I recommend you do a bit a bit of research and read up a bit.. There's loads of info on the net.

Basically start with ditching all convenience foods and avoid anything designated "low fat". Cut back on sugar wherever you can, cut out all grains and starchy vegetables, especially white potatoes.

Don't worry if you don't like dairy, eggs or red meat - there are still loads of options - all fish and poultry, some game meats, nuts and seeds, and of course as much in the way of green leafy veg and salads as you can manage.

Eat a rainbow of colours of fruit and veg to maximise all the vitamins and nutrients but don't go overboard on fruit because of the sugar content.

I think it's trial and error - just work out what suits you best.

Thanks so much for the advice. I love fish, salads, fruit and some veggies. I have done a little Google-ing, but just come up with meat/dairy heavy meals. But I'll continue to search :)

I dont eat much fruit, and am on a mission to cut down (drastically!) my sugar intake.

    Thanks again :)

Chin up Pam, don't give up - just try again. Spring is just round the corner.

I was looking through my M.F.P. last night, I started low carbing April 17th last year, I wanted to go back to what I was doing then, as I had lost 3 1/2 stone by October.
Looks like I was eating 2 or 3 meals a day, and similar foods to now, without the added extras, I was being strict with myself as seeing great results, less dairy, and no scratchings.
I like to cook a roast meal Sunday, and have the same Monday, so starting with tomorrow, going back to basics, planning gardening today, but then will sit and menu plan for the week, as need some fresh veg by Monday. I find if I do that there`s no sudden plan changes, as everything is defrosted and ready to cook.
Do I need it or just want it.

Im back on a low-carb diet after successfully following Atkins six years ago and losing over 5st. Just over 1st has sneaked back on again, so without hesitation I am low-carbing again.

Now on week three after one week cutting out all the additives and caffeine from my diet, then a week of narrowing down my veg choices and no fruit. Third week is sticking to counting my carbs and the weight is now dropping off.

New discovery this week was making a cauliflower pizza crust, I was sceptical but the results were excellent.

    Hi everyone :hello:

Thanks for those links Pamsdish. I'll take a good look and try and get some fresh ideas.

    Sounds like good progress Bambina.

Like both of you I have decided I need to go right back to basics, although in my case I also need to go easy on the dairy because of tummy problems.

I refuse to cut out coffee though:rotfl: - cutting out chocolate, g&ts and the odd slug of wine is bad enough.;)

    I am afraid I have 3 stones to lose.

Still not happening, brilliant all day yesterday, congratulating myself, then had a huge carb urge, which I gave into.
I am going to cull all the treats that have crept back into my cupboards over the next few days,
Start again Sunday, I recall making low carb treats/ fat bombs, think I will do that again, then if I get a bad craving something sensible to eat.

Ah never mind. Just try again. But.........and I'm not nagging.......why wait until Sunday. Why not try and get back on the wagon today - at least as best you can.

I know it's difficult at times - especially if you have a lot on and are very busy but don't blow all your recent endeavours just because you slipped up one night. Just do the best you can over the next few days rather than use it as an excuse to backslide.

Do you think there might be a trigger for your carb cravings. Is it worth keeping some kind of diary to see if you can find a pattern.

I know evenings can be a bad time for me too sometimes.

I think what I need to do is take up some kind of hobby that keeps my hands occupied, maybe some little craft type projects.

Well good news for me........after couple of months of getting nowhere I popped on the scales this mirning to discover I've lost two pounds. I know it's a drop in the ocean but it's cheered me up no end because I didn't expect that.

I am aiming to try the 5:2 next week but didn't feel my body was ready so this week I have been back to eating Paleo (most) of the time and just trying to stay off the carbs. Apart from the odd blip it seems to be working. I've also cut right back on dairy so maybe that's helped too.

Keep going Pam. I'm sure you'll make a breakthrough if you keep at it.

Can you treat yourself to something that is non food related to lift your spirits, a bunch of flowers or something cheap and cheerful from a charity shop.......

    Well done, Pamsdish.

Don't forget - what counts is not how often we fall - it's how often we get up again.

Today I booked a holiday for next winter. I had a nice long chat with the travel agent who was quite a large lady - I would say at least 5 stones overweight, if not more.

She has lost one stone already, having been warned by her doctor of the consequences of being so overweight. . She confessed to having mobility issues and how it's holding her back.

She has had the offer to go to Peru but feels she cant go because she's not fit enough. I told her that was quite an incentive to lose weight and get fit.

I could see her think about it for A few minutes and then she grinned and said "you're right, I'll do it". I said I'm going to hold you to it and will come back and keep tabs on you........

This is one of my issues. I need to lose at least 3 stones because I can feel it affecting my mobility. My weight is stopping me from doing fun things.......I've decided I'm not prepared to give up yet. I want to be active, to travel and have adventures before I'm too old and decrepit. :rotfl:
