Disastrous week, not even going to get on scales, start anew Sunday.Do I need it or just want it.0
-
Oh dear, never mind......
"Tomorrow is another day":rotfl:
Well it's been a week of two halves......
The bad news ...... Blood tests results now in. Cholestrol too high, and borderline blood sugars.
This is my wake up call. Time to get serious.:o
The good news - lost 1 lb and abdominal cramps easing slightly so I must be finally starting to get it right.0 -
I had an MOT at the Drs in Dec, including blood tests, turned 65 Dec 26th which seemed to trigger an alarm at Drs, more blood tests etc, saw nurse, her scales 7lb out, confirmed by me weighing on 4 other scales and getting a lb or so fluctuation, I am pre-diabetic on the lower end of her chart, I do have Familial Hypercholestemia, have to take expensive medication prescribed by consultant, quashed her interfering with that.
I am waiting to see if I get called back after 6 months, which will be about the same time I see lipid consultant.
Will be following my original HFLC regime strictly this week, my problem is I nibble all night, so looking to not eat after 6 pm and see how I go.Do I need it or just want it.0 -
I will be 65 in July.
Pam. Let's support each other. We NEED to do this.
I get the evening munchies too - definitely my danger zone.
Maybe we need some kind of distraction techniques;)0 -
I can go all day, or until mid afternoon not eating, then have a nice meal, then looking for something all night after that, if I am hungry before that will have 2 poached eggs for a brunch.
Sunday Lunch ? about 2 pm, roast belly pork, broccoli, mashed (with cream) celeriac, mashed (with butter) swede, then a small portion of my homemade sage and onion stuffing, which does contain bread, although I think I used a lidl high protein roll, I freeze into portions, and some gravy made with bisto.
Just before 6 pm I made an egg custard, lge mug of milk, generous amount of cream, 2 eggs, 11 mins in micro on 50% power, love it still hot.
I do treat myself to 3 squares of dark choc every night, I will be having the same today as I plate my veggies Sunday, warm in micro, add meat and warmed gravy, I live alone and as I like a roast dinner Sundays, I plate for Monday, makes life easy for me.
Thinking I am overdoing the dairy so when I have finished cream off will give it a miss for a week or so, also indulged in quite a bit of cheese last week too.
Perhaps I will do some crochet next week to distract while watching T.V.
I didn`t eat my scratchings last night either.Do I need it or just want it.0 -
Sounds like you are a good cook!!:D
Yesterday I tried cooking quinoa from scratch, rather than just buying it pre cooked - delicious but very expensive. It came out ok but very bland, definitely needs some seasoningss and flavourings. It was actually very easy to make and a lot cheaper of course.
I had it instead of spaghetti as a "spaghetti bolognese". It was fine with the sauce and a sprinkle of Parmesan. Nibble wise I was very good in the evening. Some pistachios and an orange. :A
I have decided to go back on Paleo this week and wean myself off carbs, then next week I'm going to incorporate this with the the 5:2 fasting programme. I need to get both the sugars and the cholesterol down asap, preferably without drugs. Although realistically I dont know how successful I'll be with the cholestrol.
I also need to watch how much dairy I'm eating. I have reduced my cheese Intake this week and am trying to cook with olive oil rather than butter where I can.
The evening crochet sounds like a good plan......;)0 -
Feeling Rubbish !!!!!!!!!
I just cannot settle back in to sensible eating, eat a nice low carb meal, then looking for eats all night, roll on the better weather, perhaps then I will not be looking for AND eating rubbish.Do I need it or just want it.0 -
Oh dear.........sorry to hear that, Pam.
Evening munchies are my downfall at times too.
I am still reading my dr Moseley books and trying to learn more.
I havent made much progress this week either.. I have been so busy moving my 90 year old, father out of his flat and into my sisters house. It was very stressful and I'm shattered. Ive just had snatched meals on the run and then collapsed in front of the tv in the evening.
I also had to have some rather unpleasant tests at the hospital this week so it's been a difficult week, not a good time to get to grips with healthy eating.
Anyhoo.......that's all behind me. I have nothing planned, a nice clear diary and the decks are clear all ready to finally devote some time to me.
At the risk of sounding selfish - it's time to Focus on Me.
I have set myself a target to finish decluttering the house and get busy decorating. I've made a start and have a car load ready for the charity shop.
A clear house and a clear mind will hopefully get me back on track.
I have also started taking probiotics again - thought it might help.
Chin up Pam, don't give up - just try again. Spring is just round the corner.0 -
Hi Everyone,
i am thinking about trying a low carb diet to shift a stone. But i dont like eggs at all, rarely eat red meat, rarely eat cheese/milky products and have heard that a low carb diet is high in all of these things?
Where would i start?0 -
I recommend you do a bit a bit of research and read up a bit.. There's loads of info on the net.
Basically start with ditching all convenience foods and avoid anything designated "low fat". Cut back on sugar wherever you can, cut out all grains and starchy vegetables, especially white potatoes.
Don't worry if you don't like dairy, eggs or red meat - there are still loads of options - all fish and poultry, some game meats, nuts and seeds, and of course as much in the way of green leafy veg and salads as you can manage.
Eat a rainbow of colours of fruit and veg to maximise all the vitamins and nutrients but don't go overboard on fruit because of thecsugar content.
I think it's trial and error - just work out what suits you best.0
