It's difficult enough to get newbies to read the existing stickies without hiding the really useful ones away in a general one size fits all sticky!!!
They were made stickies simply because they contain the most pertinent information for newbies in each sub forum, something which the MSE staffers stickies (which are still in situ) don't necessarily address and they now get lost in the melee of a general sticky they have even less chance of being read.
I have to say i completely agree with the above. Perhaps you should have left changes until after the 'new forum' comes in, but you have basically made the stickies no longer fit for purpose (which is being easily seen on page one by newbies and easy to see new posts by oldies).
If this is any indication of the quality of the new forum, I say we are in fr a rough ride and someone is not doing their job properly. this is kind of reminding me of New Coke?
the idea of changes is to improve the forums, but this is not an improvement it is the exact opposite.0 -
If Andrea's hint and my guess are right, then when the new forum design is applied these new style sticky threads will be changed into much more than a just a static list of links as they appear now.
If my guess is wrong, I'll be the first to complain.
There was no issue of posts being lost etc in the Competitions part of the forum so apart from mind control access I cannot see what change could make it easier than stickies you get to direct from the index (as it was set up before), don't want to have to click on one post to get a list of stickies and then need to click again to get the one you want.0 -
Dont think i have ever read a stickyWWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0

I'm sure many of the posters in The Arms would rather Ormus' thread was left as a stick than the pub thread.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -

Perhaps if everyone that wants the Ormus thread to be a sticky were to PM the Board Guide that decided to make the pub a sticky instead, then the decision might be reversed sooner rather than later
Excuse my ignorance but who is the board guide?
I'll happily PM them:TLife is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
