  • Thanks for taking the time to say hello. I can't believe how much we have overlaid by. We are not yet at a year since the light bulb moment in February. We still have years. Who am I kidding, decades, left but every day we take off of the end of our mortgage is going to be amazing. We are nearly due to look at the product we are on and as we are on two really different products this should make an amazing difference and it will be possible to add the 'saving' to our overpayments. We will see but I am feeling positive about it. X

  • No spend Monday. Managed to get the house half sorted and now collecting little person from school. Plan is to go home and make dinner for tonight and a couple of other week night meals to lessen the load when I get in from work. Monday is my day off so try to use it to organise tho I have a couple of reports to write this evening.

This time next week we begin the advent calendar. Super excited.

  • Great work

many banks have overpayment calculator on website that allows you to put parameters in and it will tell you when you will overpay mtge by and how much interest you will save.

I use the HSBC site and it helps with the motivation, I also designed a Excel spread sheet to do the same but in a more complicated way!

Even if you have a mortgage with a limited overpayment %age (ours unfortunately is 10%) you can still 'save' the overpayments (I use regular savings accounts) until you have enough cash to pay the whole lot off. Even with early repayment charges, you can calculate the most financially opportune time pay it off (mine is Jan 2017) So all guns blazing for the day.

Any ideas on great savings accounts for my regular savings to go into (I have Santander and TSB)
Debt is a symptom, solve the problem.
  • I have a 10% limit but that would be in achievable at the moment given our mortgagee is still 217000. We will get there one day. I have a spreadsheet kindly made by someone on here. I may need a hand with a new one early next year when the numbers all change.

Another no spend day today. I took the day off sick for the first time in about 4 years. My voice hurt. My head hurt and I felt horrible. Feeling a little better now and am hoping for a quiet day tomorrow. Managed to do not a lot today but not a lot is free. :)
