What the remortgage issues? We've just been through one which was straightforward to be fair.

Just trying to fix at a good deal. I wanted a long deal and finally found one for five years. Was considering a 10 year fix but that seems super long. Who knows what will happen in 10 years. All sorted now tho. Just waiting for it to go through. X

Still waiting for documents for the remortgage. We got out current balance down to 213000 :). We have five weeks worth of foreign students coming to stay starting in two weeks so that will be a £1500 over payment to be made. I don't know if I shod make it to the current bank or wait for the transfer to the new bank. I guess I need to see how soon it will all happen. I had a letter from my current bank saying the the product we have is coming to an end and the new payment is almost the same if we were to stay with them so it is definatly worth the hassle of changing. Just need to get the statements and things in the post. How long can it possibly take! X

    Hi Charlie007

I've just read through your diary so wanted to give you a

I love the idea of writing down all purchases for one year. Have you managed to keep this up?

I didn't manage all purchases but most of them. Quite an eye opener. It is easier as I rarely pay cash and that means I can track via my receipts and statements. Some are vaguer than others.

Finally finally finally I got all the documents in the post today for our application. I have a slipped disc that has really put me out of action for three weeks now. I have however not been spendingb any money so every cloud.

I am hoping the mortgage company are going to get back to us and the new one will be sorted soon

Six weeks of students are arriving this month so there will be lots of money to overpay but am going to wait now until the mortgage is transferred I think so that it is not messy.

Also the annual mortgage statement is due soon. Will be interesting reading.

Had a call yesterday from the new mortgage company to say that they had everything they needed to progress the application and to clarify a couple to things. We will hear again in two weeks time. We have two students arriving tomorrow for three weeks and they leave on the same day two more come for three wees so that will be a good overpayment. I am also below 64% ltv as the new mortgage company gives a valuation much higher - neighbours have sold houses on our street within the week of putting them on the market so I can well believe it.

Dh and I were talking about future plans. The new deal is fixed for five years so I think that's what we will aim for. Over pay like crazy then downsize to what ever the equity will allow. Currently we could get a small two bed with a tiny yard so hopefully in five years we can add some more to that. I would like three beds to allow us to have students if we want. We shall see but it feels like the goals are set.

Have started the Christmas shopping today. Amazing offers in the shops and we have plenty of space in the garage to keep them so I thought why not.

Hope everyone else if feeling motivated. I have a box full of stuff to list online and can't bring myself to do it. I may aim for five things a day from tomorrow. Hopefully.
