The Random Diary Of Mortgage free wannabe.

Where to start. I am 31 and my husband is 35. We have a little girl as have recently moved into our home. We have been lucky with property and have about 100k in equity and 210K left to pay. Scary. So I have decided we need to be more money conscious and we are trying not to spend any money at all in feb. we are now day 13 NSd in a row. It got me thinking we need to use the money we would sped better. We have some money in savings but it isn't really earnig any interest so I plan to sort out the online banking tomorrow and transfer some of that. I am also having a huge clear out and any extra I plan to put towards the mortgage. I need to see proper figures as the ones I have are just a guess.

I Have also started a vlog in the hope I will stay motivated. It is glib to be a long ride but needed to start some where. Need to change my signature when I am on the pc rather than my phone as I am sure it is about 10 years old.

  • So I sorted out my online banking and have 226k left to pay. I have to transfer some of my savings but not sure how much to keep for a rainy day. Also I have set up an overpayment of 140 a month. I just finished paying off my student loan so I won't notice :).

If we pay back 140 a month extra on the mortgage and pay 3k off out of our bank we will save 34k in interest and pay the mortgage back 6 years earlier!!!

  • Good luck Charlie, for us the biggest saving has been planning meals. It saves trips to the supermarket that 99% leads to overspending.

  • Thanks for the heads up about free listing. I have been sewing and hoping for some sales. Also been looking into getting some forigen language students. Anyone else done this? It is 150 per student per week. Max of 4. We are thinking we may begin with two under 18s for a try. Hopefully we will have a visit this week to talk more about it. Few bids on my eBay items. Not spent anything again today :)
