We pay interest monthly on the 1st of the month. Should I pay as I get the extra money or as and when? I guess paying when I get the extra money will stop me wanting to spend it on something else. My mortgage statement could end up being massive!!
I have set myself a target of 24k in two years. I figure it will be less daunting if I break it down.

Thanks for all the messages. *waves back*. I am going to look at a budget plan today. We have had a no spend plan all month. Managed so far (only spent if we earnt via eBay etc). Supprisingly ok and kept me determined to not spend.

Another no spend say today. More items listed and sold on e bay and also near payout on a few survey sites. Managed to stick to the meal plan also. Got a refund on some faulty shoes and also planted some veg
Seeds in the hope we can grow much of our veg. Not done well so far but worth a try this year. XMortgage free Start amount feb 2014 227000. Current amount nov 2014 217000.

Also. ..... Forgot to say earlier. Two people who I have spoken to about this have asked why I am doing it and really questioned why I would pay off my mortgage earlier. They really didn't understand my motivation and determination. I have been having a no spend month which was planned so that has impacted on what we have done this month. That is completely different to the mortgage plans. That was a challenge we set as part of out challenge a month for 2014. We will continue to spend wisely but not as restricted as we have been this north but in all honesty I have enjoyed not spending and being with my family doing nice things.

There are more people who think that paying off a mortgage early is financially crippling than leaving a large debt round there neck for 20 years.
People are sometimes short sited to the fact that the interest rates are definitely going to rise and how it will affect everyone. Spending the extra money on things that they may not even need or even want.
I am not berating the people as I was one, just we all have a different outlook in life and this forum is one of them.
Thanks for letting me join you in your rant, I told my boss I had a financial blog yesterday and he said that's interesting and then laughed. He was more interested when I told him how to get a cheaper holiday.

I think it is short sightedness. They didn't even want to have adware about it just believed it to be a crazy idea. I am thinking how lovely it will be not to have the burden of a mortgage in 20 years rather than the current 24. It is quite addictive playing with the mortgage calculator and working out when I can pay it off by xMortgage free Start amount feb 2014 227000. Current amount nov 2014 217000.
