Ah but importantly you were under the upper limit. I just wanted to touch the upper limit
The lower healthy limit for me is utterly ridiculous (I think its 5stone 12lbs) . I do think BMI is a load of rubbish mostly,in fact technically my upper healthy limit is 7stone 13lbs but I think I will be fairly slim if I got to 8stone. I am currently a size 10-12 (mainly 12 on bottom half!)

Neither am I. According to the NHS calculator, I'm overweight but compared to most of my peers, I'm a racing snake. Still, I do have a bit of a tummy and when that is gone, I will stop trying to lose fat.
My wife has the opposite problem, at the weight that she is most happy, she is right on the bottom limit, or slightly below, that the NHS calculator deems healthy, yet she is perfectly healthy.0 -
BMI can only be a vague guide. One of the reasons that my weight crept up, apart from wine, OH's great cooking and my greed, is that I never put weight on my face.
If I said I need to lose a bit people would act surprised. 2 stone later, there I was - spare tyre bigger than my bust!Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I have no realistic prospect of getting back to my pre 40 age weight, which was between 8 and 8 1/2 stone. At 5'7 my current aim is 9 stone, and after two weeks of all inclusive food and drink on holiday, I am firmly back on the 5:2 to undo the damage! I haven't found it too bad after the first week and can already see a difference in myself, although whether that translates into much of a weight loss, I don't know yet. Onwards and downwards!0

Oh, wow. At 9 stone and your height you must be thin.
I'm 5.2 and now 10.2, but aiming for 9.7.
I think at my age, it's better to have a bit of padding. I wish I could get some on my face, though. High cheek bones are great when you're young, but they just make me look gaunt.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Pollypenny, that's the thing. I'm not thin, and although a size 10/12 It's probably because they say sizes are bigger these days! Mind you, if I tried to be 8 stone again, I'd have to starve myself. However, I didn't look very thin years ago when I was that weight, so I assume that age does strange things to us. Fast day tomorrow.0

My 4:3 last week went without incident. Tuesday was tough as a NFD as I was hungry throughout but managed to eat well and Wednesday I was back to normal.
4:3 again this week and if it goes well I am considering continuing throughout July. I didn't lose much weight (0.3kg) but visibly this has been one of my best weeks since I began. I seemed to have plateaued on the scales but the fat is still coming off.
I'm going with the usual fast days of Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Good luck everyone with your 5:2 weekThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Fast day again for me, but I'm not feeling too good. Got a sore throat, of the dry, doesn't matter how much water you drink, it's still there, type.
Still, I've gotten to 5.15pm on only a coffee and an oxo cube and am very much looking to my prawn stir fry when I get in from work.
I can relate to the other posters in here. In my teens and early 20s, I was 8 to 8.5 stone which was a good weight for my height (5'2"). Towards my mid to late 20s, I was 9 to 9.5 stone (even after babies - I lost the weight quickly and wouldn't blame them for any excess weight - the baggier belly? Well that's another story!)
I started 5:2 as my weight was creeping up and up and I seemed to have settled at 10st. Not terribly bad, but more than I'm happy with and whose to say it would just creeping on as the years go by?
I successfully did 5:2 last year for my brother's wedding and got down to 9st, but lost the plot when I got bk from his wedding abroad.
I started this diet I think it's been 7weeks now and I have 10lb, so from a starting weight of 10st 2lb, I am now 9st 6lb. Will I lose 6lb in the four weeks before my holiday to Spain? Not sure, but the battle for me will be continuing when there is no holiday as an incentive!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Had a relatively sensible weekend. Fasting today and doing OK! Just under 2 weeks to holiday (only to Cornwall but ah well) so feeling positive I'll reach 9 stone by then. Seen a friend recently who has lost a massive amount of weight on slimming world, but wants to lose more. Knowing when to stop is important too. She isn't scary thin but her limbs look awfully skinny now and most of her remaining tummy is just excess skin that needs toning. She isn't doing 5:2 but is very strict with herself. I actually had a KFC yesterday but reckon I'm still doing OK for calories, can't live in a world without treats!Trying to lose weight (13.5lb to go)0

And just like that today I'm feeling like this week is going to be a write off
