I used to do slimming world so I'm mostly eating similar things to then but worrying less about having a small treat or a bit of toast or fat on my bacon. Obviously if I had takeaway every day I wouldn't see any benefit!
I wanted to try to be a bit low carb but I enjoy my bread roo much. I have reduced my potato and pasta consumption though.
I don't drink regularly am not concerned about alcohol calories. Although this weekend I may drink a bottle of wine at a eurovision party! I don't drink regularly at home though only for events generally
Sounds like a lot of you calories count non fast days which I am surprised about. It's a lot of effort, I've tried calorie counting before but I always forget after a few days.Trying to lose weight (13.5lb to go)0 -
My meal out went very well last night.
We had a bottle of wine between three, so a large glass each. For once there were two good vegetarian choices on the specials list.
Starter was asparagus with rocket and a bit of Parmesan, lovely. My main was a goat's cheese and vegetable strudel with salad. Great again.
No spuds and I left most of the pastry, as always. No dessert, obviously.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Another fast day for me.
I started work at 7am, and will be finished by 1pm, I will have a nap later on and in effect sleep through a meal!
Weigh in tomorrow, I can feel my work uniform getting looser, and my mum says she can see I have lost weight off my face, so tomorrow will be four weeks since I started, i do need to get more exercise, i have a physical job, and i can be exhausted after a long shift. But i do need to get more exercise in on my short shifts, which are either 7am \ 1pm, or 2pm \ 9pm. Full days are 7am, until 9pm.
I usually do two fasts on my half days, so i can either have a nap in the afternoon, or a lie on in the mornings.
This past two weeks i have done a third day whereby i dont fast as in try and keep under the 500 calories, but i eat little to nothing during the day and have an evening meal where i don't count the calories, i did this on Saturday where i had Chinese on Saturday night, and last week i did the same and had a big roast dinner,
Then the next day i go back to either normal eating, or fast day.0 -
Fast day and weigh in for me. Lost 3lb, so 4lbs in two weeks which I am very happy with.
I was more stricter last week than the first week. I calorie counted on the NFD and didn't drink as much as I normally would (chocolate/cakes I can leave, my downfall is a glass (or bottle) of wine).
I wanted to count calories on NFD just so I could see if I was completely overeating, but I think I took it too far and I felt as if I was depriving myself everyday. Need to find a happy medium me thinks.
I like what piglet74 suggested on a fast day whereby I eat hardly anything during the day (which I can cope with quite easily while at work) and then have a dinner without counting.
Either that or I will do:-
Monday - Fast
Tuesday - Calorie count
Wednesday - Calorie count
Thursday - Fast
Friday - Sunday - Eat what I want trying to be sensible.

You would be up to 3k in calorie deficit by the time Friday comes so unless you went completely overboard you should be losing weight. Ultimately it comes down to calories and not what you actually eat. You could have 2k in calories worth of chocolate and nothing else and in theory that would not give you a weight gain if you needed 2k of calories to fuel your body. An extreme example (and very unhealthy) but it's just an illustration of how you can manipulate your intake on any given day and stay in your calorie requirement range on a NFD and still continue to lose weight from your deficit on fast day.
I began in September last year but gave up in December and began again in February. In my first attempt I used to do exactly as piglet mentioned which is eat whatever I want one day a week but not have anything during the day. Only rule was it can't be more than 2.2k calories and I lost weight doing that. I was unhealthy on those days and eating takeaway so again an extreme example but it did actually work and I continued to lose weight. It also gave me hope when I initially struggled as I had knowledge that there was ultimately going to be a treat. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'm on a fast today today, too.
Had a good weekend, as I find I'm eating far less anyway. I treated myself to a small portion of ice cream.
Yesterday we had a planned visit to friends the other side of Wales, so a good lunch. But I am proud to say I only took a single roast potato. Fruit salad after and one glass of wine then.
We did a decent walk and had another wine before leaving, but I ate nothing else.
A bit hungry today, but I've just kept very busy.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Sounds like we all fast on Mondays! Me too. I have stayed on track today
my OH had managed too. For dinner instead of a meal replacement shake he made shirataki noodles in a broth which would only be about 20 calories... because the shake we would have had is 200 we had a couple small cookies each (110 calories for 2) so feel like we've had a treat and everything!
OH still struggled today but is ok now. I feel like hunger isn't my biggest problem I just really crave something yummy. I do get hungry though but it's manageable.
I really don't want to calorie count on non fast days but I will if I don't lose this week. I haven't managed to actually fast 2 days in a week since starting, first week was more of a try 1 day and see, then birthday week, then miserable day at work week and my weight hasn't changed. As that is effectively 6:1 which is supposed to maintain that sounds about right though! So this week I don't foresee any problems with 2 fast days and fingers crossed I'll see some movementTrying to lose weight (13.5lb to go)0 -
3lbs off this week!! That's 9lbs in total, in the 4 weeks I have been doing this,
I'm just delighted,
This is the easiest "diet" I have ever done!!!0 -
Well done! I've decided to do a 4:3 for the next three weeks, as we are going on holiday on June 4th, and I am not losing the weight I wanted to on my return from Australia. I put that down to being a bit lax on the other five days and giving into temptation where cakes and sweets are concerned. I would like to lose around six pounds as we are going to an all inclusive hotel, and my willpower is notoriously weak when faced with all that food. My OH is staggered how much food I can consume when I can be so disciplined (normally!) at home.0

I've only lost a pound! Disappointed, but I don't take enough exercise, clearly.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
