Re: cost of food.. I agree with you maman I can get my shopping each week for <£50 for two of us and the cat..
Whether I'm following SW or not I tend to spend the same and always shop at the bigger supermarkets because I hate supermarket shopping so have it delivered.
Hope this list helps a bit, I wrote it all out and realised it might sound a bit patronising - it isn't meant to be I promise, I was just going through my favourites on my supermarket delivery page..
Our staples tend to be
Veg/Fruit
Lettuce - not bagged leaves, so cheaper 50p
Butternut squash - does loads of meals if it's a biggy
onions
value peppers
carrots - to snack on
mushrooms
potatoes - jackets, chips, boiled, mashed
bananas - great for breakfast
satsumas - when in season
Cupboard stuff
couscous - really quick and simple to prepare, plain stuff is a lot cheaper
rice/pasta - easy to prepare
bran flakes (for OH) - supermarket own
porridge oats - make our own porridge sachets - would never pay for oatssosimple - 1kg for 75p instead of £2.50 or something for a box of 10
spaghetti hoops - little tin with 2 toast is a great lunch and cheap too, usually buy when it's on offer - you could get supermarket own brand cheaper but I prefer Heinz
sugar free jelly - buy the sachet then make it into little pots - 75p for the sachet which makes 6 little jellies
Fridge/freezer
natural yogurt - supermarkets own brand is 55p a tub much cheaper than mullers or activia and sometimes I mix it with a jelly so we have milk jelly type things as puddings
Low fat cheese - supermarket own brand always 2 for £5 for 450g blocks
Low fat cream cheese - own brand only 49p a tub
Iceland chicken pieces - just frozen cooked plain chicken to have for lunches £5 for a massive bag much cheaper than fresh stuff from the supermarkets
There are some things I always buy branded (i.e. cat food - yes he eats better than us :rotfl:) but I tend to stick to own brands where I can..
I buy all meat from my butcher as it's cheaper but previously to this I found Farmfoods or Iceland to be ok price wise for frozen chicken..
I hope that helps someone a little bit..Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -

Morribobs have Cathedral City lighter at 2 pounds a block currently.
Cucumbers also 50p at Asda and Morrisons.
I don't even work for Asda but I often buy a punnet of blueberries for pound, and a pineapple and a punnet of kiwi at 75p each, some fat free yoghurt for a pound and that does me a few fruit salads0 -

I did an aldi shop for my fruit and veg.more veg than fruit and bought jersey royal potatoes, baby sweet corn, mange tout, string beans, onions, mushrooms, pepper, kiwi, bananas and strawberries. Also bough the aldi benefit bars. Came to £12.
This should last me the week although I do need to get a few salad bits maybe. I don't buy a lot of fruit as its expensive and only buy if its cheap and on offer.
It worked out about half the price of tesco which I tend to use for store cupboard stuff. I do green days so don't buy meat either which can also be expensive. I don't think my food bill has gone up if anything its gone down by a few pounds because I'm not buying crisps, choc or cakes.0 -
Morning everyone, I'm having an attempt at a Red day today
RedMenu:
B: Shreddies, strawberries & ff greek yoghurt.
L: 2 boiled eggs. 2 Scan bran with scrape of butter. Fruit.Roast beef, mashed swede, cabbage, sprouts, broccoli & carrots, gravy. Fruit.
Milk for tea.
Snack: Skinny latte
Had my lolly last night and it was deliciousThere's still one left in the freezer so if I lose again this week I will have it next weekend - an incentive to be good this week! Although I have a treat out planned next Saturday, it is a surprise for DH and we will be having a packed tea. It will be SW friendly but I'm planning on including a bag of Sports mixture(0.5 syns per sweet) and some Freddo's as treats. Really need to save up my syns for it.

To be honest I find I can do SW quite frugally. I do most of my shop in Aldi and my SFs tend to be more veg than fruit. I know I'm in a better position than many as I have the time and facilities to cook from scratch and shop around a bit. Perhaps we could discuss it a bit more on here. If you're already paying £5 a week to go to a group then any savings we could suggest would be really helpful.
My menu today's been fairly cheap. Although I haven't costed it exactly I know I probably feed two of us for less than £50 a week (not including wine syns:o or meals out as that's in our 'entertainment' budget;)). I suppose we're all in different situations but what is the expectation of a reasonable amount to spend on food? How does it compare to when you were buying 'fat' food?
I agree discussing cost would be really helpful, I looked at the SW
student shopping list online but to be honest didn't find it too helpful, list came in at £36 a week whih is more than my budget.
You are so good at this Maman and seem to have a lot of experience could you perhaps put up a couple of days costed menusSlimming World at target0 -
WI-loss of .5lb after the week I've had I'm happy with that. Really poorly yesterday, my own fault as had a cheese toastie.
Hubby made me a lovely lasagne last week, he went out and bought gluten free sheets and made the cheese sauce with gluten free flour. Also got me gluten free little rolls that began with a F and had rosemary in. All very nice a and eaten pain free :j. Syns, well didn't count them.
Will try very hard this week to stick to plan.
Thank for the chart Shala :A
Well done to you losers and big hugs to those in need :AIts not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T
