Thanks ladies... HDK that sounds like a good positive talk, I've spent years blaming my parents for not teaching me to eat properly (I was a very fussy child) but it's not their fault that I don't eat healthily nowHiya
I don't have a cooker full stop Shala
Sorry MrsR I assumed you had a hob as you'd cooked the pasta... I know it's not a cheap option but would it help if you got a halogen oven or a george foreman grill?
My dad has no oven and he loves his.. I guess it all depends on what space you have available..
Off to have my jacket potato (bit late as we went shopping) have a good day everyone xxMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
I always assumed that when you have your foil tub of main course from a take away that was one serving. Maybe I'm just greedy!:o:rotfl: It'll be interesting to know what others think.
In my family we always had 3/4 dishes plus rice/noodles/whatever and shared and there was often plenty leftover whereas in bf's family they can't share between more than two of them (apart from one takeaway here who do mahoosive portions then they can stretch to three plus me [much smaller portion than them])!
I've also noticed that where 'down south' (not quite the south but south of here enough haha) the portions were drastically different and there was non of this 'served with chips' malarky for stuff like sweet and sour chicken!
It will be interesting to hear how others take it************************************

Interesting to hear what you say about 'down South'. I live about as far south as possible and they never serve chips in Indian or Chinese restaurants, well certainly not the smarter ones. Last week I was in Wales in a very smart Indian and a side of chips was commonplace, albeit they were handcut in those little buckets.
However, when we have a take away at home I always order chips with the Chinese. Maybe it's a guilty secret to keep within four walls for Southerners like dunking biscuits in your tea!:rotfl:0 -
I love the chips from the Chinese lol. On the 22nd it will be my first payday and a month with slimming world and I will be having what I want from the Chinese and not stressing over the syns....as long as the next 2 Fridays I've lost....that's the plan anyway lolHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

EE day today
B - layered frozen berries/ quark/ scan bran
L - smoked salmon scrambled eggs no butter, yogurt,
D - SW roasties, roast veg, pork loin steaks
Snacks - fruit
HEA milk in tea
Lots of water
Body magic - 30 min walk with dog.
Not sure whether to syn scan bran and have a couple of hi fi bars later or keep then for my HEB
Syns x3 Ferrero rocher0 -
Okay ill come out of lurking to confess my naughtiness from day one of sw
- if I have a roast I have proper roasties - I syn them but I figure when I stop losing I have the option to cut them down and back?
- I still have apple sauce and mint sauce - and don't syn it (same as above)
- I have Chinese take away (I count syns in the book as 1/2 a portion of the actual meal (I don't weigh it out I just say 1/2 a meal - I don't syns my fried rice - I do syn the chips though 1/2 a portion and it always comes to roughly a days allowance)
- I do still have an odd bite of a sausage roll and don't syn it
- I work on a weekly bank of syns
- I used to have the bacon fat on the bacon (same as above)
- I have crunchy nut cornflakes for breakfast (with milk and don't syn them)
When I looked into joining a slimming group I needed a group that I could still keep the eating habits and items I liked? Sw for the most part hit my criteria - I chose to keep certain items I like a lot in my diet? I am aware now I'm nearing target and should my losses slow down I have these items to remove and reduce and then reintroduce at a time? This is not the official sw way but its worked for me for 73.5lbs
Weekly confession had my first Indian since getting ill last night with a little glass of wine omg it was enjoyed!!!
Slowly getting back to normalmy body can't handle cheese in any form ATM which could be a life change but if that's all I can deal with it
Only me though looks like one of my internal stitches is making a break for freedom out of one of my incisionsStarted sw 02/09/13 - total loss so far -5st 1lb

Hi all
Some good suggestions thank youI cook my pasta in the microwave. I just fill a Pyrex bowl with water, put the pasta in and cook for 12 minutes or so. It comes out fine
we have a microwave with grill so we can use either or. We have a teppanyaki grill and a steamer but very limited space
my friend swears by her George Foreman- mum has an Actifry which I would love but again it's lack of space
Come to think of it we did get a voucher for £3.54- I'm presuming that the £3 comes from the Mullerlights alone.
We have a Mr M within driving distance but OH says it's too expensiveour nearest Mr A and Mr S are miles away although we do occasionally go to Mr S.
I eat a lot of Quorn products which I do find quite expensive- I try to use the Everyday Value options when I can, I have the Value ham, eggs, beans, tuna, frozen fruit salad smoked salmon slices, pasta and mushy peas. My downfalls though are my fruit, Mullerlights, Laughing Cows (I go through a lot of them as I don't drink a great deal of milk and am allergic to 'real' cheese) Ribena and Quorn. I only buy cereal, coffee and Ryvita once every couple of months.
Here's today's menu:
Brunch: HEXB Ryvita Cracked Black Pepper with HEXA Laughing Cow Light Blue Cheese and bacon with fat removed, 2 bananas, cup of tea with remainder of HEXA
T: 2 peppered Quorn steaks, chicken leg piece with Chicken Tonight (3 syns) Aunt Bessie's Homestyle Roasties (2.5 syns) steamed mixed veg, Mullerlight
Snack:Going to cinema tonight. 2 Alpen Light Cherry Bakewell bars (6 syns) Diet Coke, 2 apples
Supper: Scrambled eggs and beans
Syns: 11.5
Still not able to do any BM as weather still lousyGoing for a meal tomorrow night with a friend I haven't seen in ages- going after WI so I can be a bit naughty without worrying unduly

I'm also going to try crumbling them up as a crunchy crumble topping for pasta bake sometime I think
Ended up going to the shop looking for HeB inspiration... didn't find any but picked up some low fat natural yogurt (1syn per 100g) and low fat natural cottage cheese(free - woop) so will use teh scan bran in my cupboard at last************************************
