Alpen Light bars are no longer a Healthy Extra!!!! recipe has been changed and they no longer have enough fibre in them :(

I imagine they'll change the recipe back when they realise their sales have halved!!:D

Or is it a ploy by SW to get us to only buy Hi-Fi bars!

  • Shala I've gained 2.5lbs this week :(

Gutted! Food has been fine too, but I've had a stressful week with not much sleep after more seizures for DH. The last time he had an episode I gained. I also gained at this point in my monthly cycle last month too, so I suppose I was screwed all round, without even adding in the fact that I've missed the gym with it being half term!!

    Evening

I had what I thought was an excellent week. I have just been weighed and I lost 1/2lb. I am not really complaining, I just wanted to lose 1.5 to get my 1/2 stone award. Oh well, tomorrow starts a new week.
On a positive note, I got some salted caramel bars :D

Well done Annie :T you must be thrilled :j

    I've had another green day:

    Breakfast - Banana, Mullerlight

Lunch - Jacket potato, baked beans, Lemon Cheesecake Mullerlight (1 syn), few grapes

Dinner - Pasta & sauce made with 80g extra lean mince (HEA), tinned chopped tomatoes, red & green peppers, onion, mushrooms, herbs, 30g Parmesan (HEB), satsuma

I then had a bit of a meltdown moment and gave in to having a slice of Tesco Luxury Chocolate Roulade (11.5 syns per portion:eek:) My slice was less than a full portion but I'll still count it as 11.5 syns. I really enjoyed it!:D

I'm still so full, I doubt I'll want the HEs that I saved for my supper so I'll probably just have a mug of Highlights (2 syns) at bedtime. That will be a total of 14.5 syns, which is the most I've had in any one day.:)

Or is it a ploy by SW to get us to only buy Hi-Fi bars!

You know what, I thought that. OH buys me the Alpen light bars as part of the shopping but the HiFi bars are expensive and it's only occasionally I can afford them. I notice that they pushed the peanut heaven HiFi bars as a great alternative (not for me, nuts make me gag :() it just makes me think that it's all about money with the SW :( I had another run in with my consultants supervisor the other week when she started preaching about how bad the pound shop MugShots were and you shouldn't have them- I'm afraid I got a little annoyed and said I find the supermarket ones prohibitively expensive as I'm on benefits. It's true though- I sold some stuff on EBay so I had a few quid spare and I got 5 from Sainsburys- 3 quid!! I could get 15 for that price in the pound shop as they do 5 for a quid :( I'm going to have to hope that I can get a few boxes of the old recipe this week and when they run out I'm going to stop eating cereal bars altogether as the supermarket alternatives are either yucky or I don't have access to them :(

Mrs_Ryan - what problem does your leader have with mug shots from pound shop? Surley we can save money as well as loosing weight? Are they not the same as the more expensive ones?

I try to get mine in Home bargains or £shop. I ran out the other week and it was 5 for £3 in Sainsburys, ouch!

And what's this about Alpen light? It does seem that they push certain brands, must be for kickbacks. Muller light must give them the most! I've just swapped to green days, and in the book it says 2 Alpen light for a heb. Even our consultant recommended them when hi-fi bars weren't available. At least you can normally get them for buy 1 get 1 free, unlike hi-fi, and I don't really want to be wasting 6 syns on one bar, I'd rather have a curly whirly.

    Harumph!

They've changed the recipe of Alpen Light bars now :( theres too many calories and not enough fibre apparently now :(
My consultant is fine with the cheaper MugShots - she knows my situation and tries to help out by suggesting things I can have that maybe aren't as expensive, however her supervisor or area manager or whatever it is has a real bee in her bonnet about them  the ones with the black writing have syns in them apparently as the cheaper ones aren't the same recipe. This is twice Ive run in with her about them as she goes on about how you should only buy the ones with the red writing but like I say this time as politely as I could said its all well and good saying that but when you aren't working you cant always afford expensive stuff. It makes me so mad!! Sometimes Ive had to raid my copper jar just to find the money for group so if im doing that then I clearly cant afford HiFi bars or to be paying £3 for a few MugShots!!!
Update - Ive just had a look at all the cereal bars available for Healthy Extras and virtually of them have nuts in and the ones that don't sound disgusting :(
