  • Good luck anyway for WI joedenise (smilies are not working for me?)

It's safe to say I was not at all impressed with extra light laughing cow triangles in my ham roll ups.
Think I'd rather forgo the amount & have 28g of some decent grated!
Those quiche muffins in ham cases sound right up my street tazzyb & I think I'll be making them alongside SW chips as snacks over the weekend.

    Todays plan
    Breakfast: mullerlight, banana, apple

Lunch: 2x soft boiled eggs & either ham or grilled bacon on an open sandwich (2x small hovis nimble wholemeal bread (HEB)
    Watercress, spinach & rocket salad.

Tea: Roasted tomato & chilli pasta recipe from March/April mag. Free on EE.
I was thinking of stirring through sardines in tomato sauce to this.
More spinach, watercress & rocket salad.

    Snack: crabsticks, apple
    HEA: milk in tea
    Drinks: black coffee, water.

Sound ok lovely people? EE day?

Lurking and reading - not posting as have been scoffing and gallbladder kicked off so can't eat properly

Only logging on to say - my consultant says that cheats like smash pizza isn't actually a free meal as the 'free' smash isn't being used as its intended so would have to be synned... Her general rule of thumb is if a thin, happy with their size person wouldn't dream of doing it then its s cheat n should be synned. Sorry but that's how I view it too. Pizza can be made for 5 syns with a warburtons sandwich thin or using the hexb ww pitta.

Well done to all on the losses - hugs to those who want them or need them.

    Morning all,

I need to confess, as yesterday's food plan went awry - again!

I started off with good intentions, but we ended up being at the hospital for hours longer than anticipated, and only a coffee machine on offer. Son was a big brave soldier, and although rather uncomfortable with a bit of pain after the procedure, insisted he was having a McDonald's on the way home. He'd been on starvation for 2 days, so was very hungry, as you can imagine. I'd only had a yogurt and piece of fruit for breakfast, thinking we'd be home again by lunchtime. We weren't back home until nearly 3.30, so I had a McDonald's too :/

Even worse, today is son #3's birthday today, he wants to go shopping after school to spend his money and get some smart new clothes, and has also asked for a McDonald's for dinner tonight. *sigh* I think this week is just going to have to go down as one of those impossible weeks to contend with. Yes I can sit there and have a coffee, and take along fruit to eat, but I know the boys will feel I'm not joining in with the birthday tea, and it is only 1 meal.... blah, blah. Am I making excuses? well, yes I am in a way. If the diet meant more to me maybe I'd stick to the plan wholeheartedly and not worry about how my children will feel when we're having a junk food meal together.

Anyway, today's plan will 'probably' be like this:

B - Danio yogurt (1.5), apple, satsuma, banana
L - Chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, pickled onions. LF dressing (1)
    D - Either: Chicken selects (12.5), garden salad, coffee7
    HeA - milk in tea/coffee
HeB - 2 x Alpen Light bars for snacks

That'll put me at just about within syns if I don't have any fries. I could have the chicken salad, but it's so low on the chicken content it never satisfies me in the long run. Also, I begrudge paying £4 for a few green leaves and a bit of grated carrot, and I have to pay £1.49 for my drink as extra! Whereas I can have the 3 selects (365 calories) for £2.89, plus side salad for 99p and a large white coffee for 1.59, so it will cost me 2p less, with a larger drink to fill me up!

I have a funeral to go to this afternoon, but am not going to be staying long at the wake, and will only have a cup of tea before I have to leave to take my son out.

Not making a birthday cake today, but will make one probably for the weekend for my son's birthday, as the rest of the family can then join in. Maybe we'll have it on mother's day?

Hope you all have good days, and good luck with WI's. :D

Mrs Christmas - your menu sounds fine for an EE day but I think I would have more than just fruit for breakfast - if that's all I ate I'd be hungry again within an hour or so and need to eat again!

WI wasn't too bad - only put on 0.5lb so OK with that as I have had a rubbish couple of weeks and was expecting to gain far more. Even with this small gain I'm still just under target (by 0.5lb!).

Slight change to my menu as I was starving at group this morning and had forgotten my banana so ended up buying a box of Peanut Heaven HiFi bars so that will be one of my HEBs and the cheese which I had down as HEB will now become HEA2!

Have had a mini meringue with my cup of tea after lunch so feeling pretty full now.

Must rush now as have to go to pick my DH up from work.

It's safe to say I was not at all impressed with extra light laughing cow triangles in my ham roll ups.

The extra light are YUK! Try the light ones, they are lovely & you can have 5 of them :D
Has anybody successfully managed the half syn brownie recipe? I tried it for the second time today with considerably less sweetener than the recipe says but there is still a really unpleasant, overpowering taste of artificial sweetener. I haven't really found any sw puds that I have really enjoyed and am starting to get a bit fed up when the rest of the family are eating their full fat stuff! Any suggestion?

I saw this on a website, but with frosting, a lot were saying it was too sweet, but I am sure that called for 150g sweetener
It had mixed reviews, majority of people were saying it ws fab, others saying was far too sweet! I personally use canderel but have never baked with it, I am not a cakey person but I would rather syn it than go to all that effort for it to taste rank!!
Tomorrow is a very busy day as effectively doing a 12hr shift ...eek! I have a homemade lasagne in the freezer that will be dinner but its from "before" so wondering how many syns it will be? Its a typical homemade lasagne with homemade white sauce

    xx

I always make my lasagne fresh, its an old WW recipe I use & just syn it, think it works out 4 syns + 1 HEA & even the kids eat it. Some things are just not worth substituting :D

Well another full day on plan, I did have the garlic bread with dinner yesterday 4.5 syns & it was worth it!

    EE Menu Today:-

    B - 2 x weetabix (HEB) & (HEA) milk from allowance & strawberries
L - Chicken tikka, large salad, mayo (1 syn), melon, strawberrries
D - Sticky ginger beef & Noodles, side of veg, melon

May have a kit kat or something later on as I usually keep my B option for night time but still going along with the "mix up your healthy extras" theme this week.

Enjoy the rest of your day

Candarel and truvia seem to be the favoured sweeteners in class.

Choc shot seems to be the thing people are using also. I haven't tried it yet but it's liquid chocolate in a squeezy bottle and its half a syn per tea spoon or 2 syns per tablespoon. I quite fancy it as a banana split with light squirty cream :p.

Talking about bananas, have you tried the banana pancakes? Xx

Our group are all going daft for "Peanut Hottie" its sold in Sainsbury & technicall a hot drink but a few satays have been made & someone else made an old WW sweet potato stew using it, seems to be popular. It is only sold in Sainsbury & when I went the shelves were bare bit some kind person brought me one to group :D. I havn't used it yet but plan using it at the weekend.

Also the banana if mashed is 5 syns, but not everyone syns it. This is because its already broken down for you & the body doesnt have to do it.

  • On the subject of SW desserts and cakes... I've made a few and so far have been unimpressed. I would rather just have proper chocolate or meringue and fruit and use syns. I'm not even a fan of the half syn cake, but I think it's partly because I don't like quark.

Hi tich (and anyone else who wants to join the challenge!)

Just let me know what your target is between now and Easter weekend and i'll add you to the chart.. :D the more the merrier!

You can weigh in any day you want to but when you give me your result if you can write it in bold and a different colour then that would be really helpful..

We're part way through week 4 now so we have 3 weeks left.

Thanks, I have sent you a pm.

Just back from my lovely trip to Dublin. I've scan read all the chat but apologies if I don't comment, I'll soon get back in the zone (in more ways than one!).

Most breakfasts were fairly on plan (fruit and selection from hot buffet) but I'm not sure lovely brown bread was a HEB but I enjoyed it! Lunches were light but off plan (cakes and paninis:o) and suppers seemed to involve many chips. Plus although I don't like Guinness, wine syns were extended beyond weekend.

But line drawn now and back on plan as far as I can as haven't done any shopping. I'm calling today Green due to lack of SFs:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB porage, HEA milk
    L: lentil and veg soup
D: chicken (HEB) curry with rice and SW chips
Syns: squirt of syrup and maybe mango chutney

shala, please put me down for STS.

I missed WI this morning but consultant knew I was away. I've probably gained a bit but should be back in range (was below) by next week's WI.
