  • Thank you for your kind words Lantanna.

Tazzy, how did the mini quiches/muffins turn out?

Welshkitty, what kind of sweetener do you use? We were talking in class last night about how some of them taste more artificial than others. I agree though that SW puds leave a lot to be desired. I occasionally have the half syn roulade, baked egg custards, cream soda rice pud or alpenlight cheesecakes, but ultimately I think merringue nests and light squirty cream, fruit and yogurt or sugar free jelly make decent enough puds for minimal effort.

I'm using asdas own sweetener at the moment, which I find ok in drinks. Maybe I should try a different one for making puds with. I have a lot of fruit and yogs and do enjoy them, but would like something different. I will get some meringue nests in as I do like them. I like baking so dont mind putting in the effort as long as the result is edible!

Has anybody successfully managed the half syn brownie recipe? I tried it for the second time today with considerably less sweetener than the recipe says but there is still a really unpleasant, overpowering taste of artificial sweetener. I haven't really found any sw puds that I have really enjoyed and am starting to get a bit fed up when the rest of the family are eating their full fat stuff! Any suggestion?

Not seen the brownie recipe. Can you post or link to the recipe for me please?

  • Candarel and truvia seem to be the favoured sweeteners in class.

Choc shot seems to be the thing people are using also. I haven't tried it yet but it's liquid chocolate in a squeezy bottle and its half a syn per tea spoon or 2 syns per tablespoon. I quite fancy it as a banana split with light squirty cream :p.

Talking about bananas, have you tried the banana pancakes? Xx

    Ingredients
    6 eggs (separated)
    70g Splenda (or other sweetener)
60g cocoa powder (not hot chocolate)
    1tsp vanilla essence
    Fry Light

    Instructions
Preheat the oven at 180ºc, spray a baking tin with Fry Light
    Line with greaseproof paper
Whisk the egg whites until they form soft peaks. In a separate bowl add the egg yolks, sweetener, vanilla essence & cocoa
Whisk until mixed but you can add a bit of water if the mixture is too stiff
Then fold in the egg whites
Pour the mixture into the tin
    Bake for 25-30 minutes.
    Eat hot or cold.

I will try a different sweetener then I think. I heard somebody mention choc shot yesterday but wasnt sure what it was. I havent tried banana pancakes, but did make syn free pancakes a few weeks ago. They were good and I did them with sliced banana and ice cream sauce.

Please-let they were lovely, instead of using muffin cases I lined the muffin pan hole things with slices of ham. All gone though - hubby cannot stop eating them. I might had had a couple then three with salad for my tea.

    Been super hungry today!

Breakfast - 2 x scan bran with light philli, melon
Dinner - jacket pot with free cottage cheese, salad and beetroot and free salad dressing.
Tea - quiche muffins, roasted asparagus, salad, beetroot and free salad dressing.

Snacks - 2 x scan bran with light philli, hard boiled egg, 2 muffin quiches.

    HexA - 75gm light philli
    HeaB - 4 x scan bran - not having the 5th.

Upped my water intake and only had one bottle of pepsi max.

Syns - so far two in tassimo creamer pod. Got some curly wurlys in the freezer though so will be having one of those.

Edit - french frys and curly wurly so 12.5 syns in total

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone is following SW online. I am thinking of starting it but I have never followed it before and so I was wondering if it was easy to follow on your own without support?

Lord - I am doing it on line and loving it. I paid for gold membership so got the books for free then bought another couple.

You get access to the syns app, can print off the food lists, get regular emails and reminders to weigh in.
