  • Sorry to post again but am excited to be getting started.
Forgot to say earlier that in my local sainsbugs they had muller lights & alpen light bars on offer. The bars were 2 packs for £3. The yogurts were 5 for £3. Hope they are still this on pay day as I'll stock up. Seen the beenies coffee but at £2.50 that can wait until pay day too.
So the Bolognese isn't really a Bolognese I don't suppose?
Extra lean mince cooked on medium so no fat needed, then I lowered the temp and added onion & garlic. Waited a few minutes then added a whole pack of mushrooms, grated carrot, diced red pepper, cooked lentils, sweetcorn, tin of chopped toms, splash of passata & a blob of Bovril ..... ALL FREE I HOPE? Simmered it slowly for 45mins & now it's ready to be divided into about 5/6 meals I reckon. Just need to pop out & get some freezer bags. I've got half a tin of baked beans left from yesterday so I will chuck that in tonight's portion. WHAT A THROW IN THE PAN MEAL....
Again, sorry to keep rambling but am hoping to get something going in my slow cooker on Friday for the weekend. Something I can keep dipping into as they tend to be quite busy & I don't want to be caught out. Any thoughts on a chicken/savoury dish. Not sure I fancy a soup.
Here is a recipe that I'll batch cook next week.
    Garlic Chilli Curry
Extra lean mince, chopped onion, green chillies, green pepper cut into strips, freshly grated ginger root (or ground ginger), crushed garlic, tin of toms, turmeric powder, ground cumin, tom puree, beef stock.
Fry beef until brown & add onion until soft. Add garlic, chilli & green pepper fry for a further 5mins.
Stir in ginger, turmeric & cumin & fry for a further 2mins.
    Add puree.
Mix in tin of toms & add the beef stock. Bring to the boil & simmer for at least an hour. Add more stock or boiling water.
This dish is quite forgiving & you can play about with it but like most curries tastes better the longer it is cooked or left. You can also adapt the meat & stock as well x

I got the email macpep ta x

Mrs Christmas - I loved your comment "Chin's up people". It made me laugh, just the way I interpreted it - rather than the collective piece of advice I think it is, I read it as an instruction to take charge of my double (multiple) chins, like "shoulders back, heads up". Thanks for that happy vision of all us SW support-ites standing in a line, trying to control our chins!

Oh gosh, I absolutely did not mean it like!! Sorry if anyone thought I did but now you've pointed it out, it did make me chuckle!! (I may add it to my sig?!)

Thanks anyway, I am not throwing out perfectly good food, I will just syn them if I am having them! Or I may cheat:p . (I used to do that with the Asda WM Pitta when it came off the HEB list, used as HEB + 1 syn) & it never hampered my loss. Not this week though, I am on it like a car bonnet :T

    Afternoon all :)
Like someone's said before, it's amazing how different we are! Mrs Christmas- I'm much the same height as you and I weigh 1lb more at 14 stone 8. I'm close to the end of my journey though as I was near 20 stone when I started. I wear a 14-16 (14 on the top, my joggers tend to be a 14 but in jeans and more structured trousers I wear a 16) however as you rightly say it all depends where you shop as to what size you are- I didn't notice that so much when I was a 24 but now I'm smaller the differences are all too apparant!! For example, I only wear a particular type of jeans from Dorothy Perkins. I wear a comfortable 16 in them but I tried some on in Primark last week and the 18's were a dubious fit  Likewise I have a t-shirt also from there which is a 20 and a wee bit tight but one of my favourite t-shirts is from Hollister and a size 12-14 and it's enormous! trying to get size 16 jeans is like the Holy flipping Grail  it's not happening  it's true when they say it's the average size for women now! And as for sale items- ditto! Nowt in a 16!! :(
Anyway. Apologies for my lil rant-ette there :D
    Here's today's plan.
B: HEXB Alpen light cherry Bakewell, HiFi Rocky Road, cuppa coffee with HEXA milk
Snack: Small pack of Metcalfes Skinny Topcorn Sea Salt flavour (4 syns) bottle of water
L: Pasta and passata with herbs, pink lady apple, pint of NAS cordial
T: Jacket Potato with 2 x laughing cow light blue cheese (remainder of HEXA) beans, tuna, steamed mixed veg with Worcester Sauce, Mullerlight, NAS cordial
S: Chokomallo (basically a pink and white with chocolate!) (3 syns) cup of Options white chocolate (2 syns)
    Syns: 9
Body Magic: I will go on the bike today for 45 mins! I only managed 20 yesterday as my stupid IPhone crashed and I had to spend ages sorting the dam thing out
Have a good day everyone, hugs to those who need them xx

Thanks for the list macpep, it's really useful.

Had a lovely lie in this morning since kids are off school due to strikes, so I skipped breakfast. I have loads of uni assignments to get done, but this is when I would usually have filled my desk with all sort of naughty treats to keep me going. I have managed to resist so far, but the temptation is there.

I'm going for green again today.

L: sweet and sour ready meal (5 syns), banana and apple
D: syn free cannelloni (although I realised I don't have the tubes in, so it will be more like a layered lasagne!) With hexb cheese on top.

Hex a will be milk in drinks. So will have a hexa and hexb left for this evening, plus 10 syns.

    Just made this

    Ingredients

    300g fat free cottage cheese
    4 large eggs
1 small onion, finely diced (you can use red onion for extra colour)
    Cherry tomatoes
    Mushrooms
    Asparagus spears
Low calorie oil spray (less than one calorie per spray)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
    Method

    Preheat your oven to 180°C/160°C Fan/Gas 4.
Lightly spray 12 muffin cases with low calorie oil spray (less than one calorie per spray).
In a bowl, mix the cottage cheese, eggs, onion and salt & pepper with a fork until all mixed together well.
Spoon the mixture into the cases and top with the tomatoes, mushrooms and asparagus. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

In the oven now - cannot wait nom nom nom

You're right - the bolognaise isn't really a bolognaise! I think most SW recipes just start off as the basis of a dish and then you add all the SFs you can think of! Your "bolognsaise" is a good example:T.

I would also probably do your curry in the SC and add extra SFs.

As to chicken recipes to do in the slow cooker I would just google "chicken slow cooker recipes" and loads will come up!

Has anybody successfully managed the half syn brownie recipe? I tried it for the second time today with considerably less sweetener than the recipe says but there is still a really unpleasant, overpowering taste of artificial sweetener. I haven't really found any sw puds that I have really enjoyed and am starting to get a bit fed up when the rest of the family are eating their full fat stuff! Any suggestion?
