Seabee – You have more willpower than I do! I could never sit and watch someone eat a cooked breakfast!! Well done
Hex - I found at the beginning I was like that as well, found it not hard to think of everything in terms of calories - but do go with it, you’ll get more relaxed as the weight comes off.
Mrs Lady – sounds like my gym induction!! It’s a bit of a disgrace to say the least. The only thing that I can think of is at this time of year maybe they have so many people joining for a short spell and they are a bit lethargic about it all – still no excuse.
Don’t overdo it to begin with – just get used to the machines and work at your own pace until you get in your stride.
I’m still not hungry and it’s a bit strange – I hardly ate any dinner last night either! Hardly any superfrees this week so far - not looking good for wi.
Don’t know what is wrong with me - was tired last night and then when I went to bed I tossed and turned until about 3 am. Rage! Hopefully will pass very soon – keep on feeling liking I’m coming down with something but then it never materialises into anything.
Have so much house work to get through this week and just don't have the motivation! Going to go home tonight and make some stew to do me next few days and at least it will be there to heat up at ease.

Still enjoying week off, today doing spinning again at 9.30 then will do gym this evening when kids at music. My shoulders are hurting this morning but hey ho. I clearly need to give up my job for a year and concentrate on weight loss...... if I don't lose weight this week, there's no hope for me.

Please don't be put off by the gym, it's full of people just like us, I personally no longer care what I look like there, wearing scraggly tracker bottoms with faded and bleachy bits on them.
Morgage till Nov 30 GOAL MFW Sept 2016

Spin & Gym!!! All in one day - flippin heck!!!!!!!!!! lol Well done

And yeah I agree with you apart from the hot Robert Redford look alike in my gym was mostly people just like me - I didn't feel intimidated at all by them - actually just kept being strangely surprised at how slim I looked in the mirrors!!!!!!!!!
  • I think you've hit the nail on the head Lantanna - you could tell they just couldn't be bothered, and we had to go at 5pm so it was packed. Taking the positive from it - I did spend 20 minutes or so sitting on the floor in the corner so I was able to suss out where things were, what sort of people and who was doing what!!

I was surprised that they didn't show us how to use weights etc. Even my OH was only shown the rowing machine and the bike!! (Apparently I'm not to use the bike? Really? I think I will . . . . !!!!) I suspect crosstrainers are not the best thing for someone with lower back pain.

WI today - 2lb loss - hurray! Takes me to 13 lb total since New Year's Eve.

I didn't get shown any resistance work either - even after I specifically said I wanted to tone up may arms, back and tummy.

I was told that after 2 weeks of "playing around with the machines" I could ask them to show me the weights!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I'll bother, I know another girl that goes and I think I will just get her to show me sometime. I've used weights before - albeit many moons ago but can't see that they will have changed that much - the rest of the equipment hasn't.

I know how much pain I was in after Kettle bells over the weekend so it actually scares me the damage that some people may do to themselves. I did though think that it was just me - as they couldn't be bothered that night and because I had said I'd used the machines at another gym before.

    Not good enough I think!!!!!!!!!

is dried skimmed milk always a syn, even if you are taking frash as a hexa? I keep hm instant porridge in my drawer at work with skimmed dried milk aleady in it so that I just need to add water..

How many syns per 'portion' is it otherwise?

    Thanks xx

    Hi Shortie,

I do my own instant porridge too and skimmed milk powder is 1.5 syns for 2 tsps which is how much I use in mine for each portion.
    Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.

  • Morning all. I'm really sorry to hear so many of you have had bad experiences with your gyms - it's daunting enough sometimes to step foot in one of these places without snotty nosed instructors, plainly disinterested, making it worse. My gym is exactly the same, however luckily enough my previous gym was fab so I've taken a lot of what I learned from them.

There are lots of apps you can get for your smartphone for motivation and tips if you think that would maybe help? I use couch to 5k (it's not as bad as it sounds, honest - I used to breathe through my backside after 20 secs but I'm not too bad now) and something called Zombies, Run!! which does a very good job of distracting me with a story when I've lost all interest in the gym - usually 5 mins in!!

I spoke to my consultant yesterday who agrees that Green plan would be better than EE for me being a veggie so heres todays plan.....have a great day everyone!!!xx

Breakfast: 2xWeetabix and Milk (HEXB and HEXA)
Lunch: Home-made yellow split pea soup with 2 slices wholemeal bread (HEXB2)
Tea: Baked spud with beans and lots of salad and home made coleslaw
Snacks - sugar free jelly, clementines, yogurt and fruit
Syns - treat size mars bar (4.5) not sure what else!

    Review of Monday's menu
Breakfast: yogurt & banana forgot I'd planned yogurt and had porridge instead!
Lunch: hexb Ryvita & hexa dairlylea, tomatoes & chives, Because I had my hexb as porridge, I couldn't have it again - see, I actually realised before it was too late! - so I had a Thai noodle mug shot (0.5syns)melon had gone rotten so I had pineapple
Dinner: tomato & pepper pasta and a wee slice of HM 50/50 bread and butter (7 syns?)
Snacks: SF caramel treat (4.5), Alpen Light bar (3)
    Total = 15syns

As you didn't have any meat yesterday it could have easily been a Green day. That allows you 2 Hex As and Bs so porage AND Ryvita if you wanted.

I can't find any dried milk as a HEX so it will always need to be synned. Brands don't seem to vary much so 1 syn per tsp, 2.5 syns per tbsp. and 4.5 for 25g, all for dried weight.

I've got a fairly low syn day planned. I know I'll be having some meals out tomorrow so need to keep in check. I'm planning to make a big pot of Bolognese too as I don't have any in the freezer and it's a good stand-by.

    Today's EE menu:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB porage, HEA milk
L: probably frittata/hash. I'll use bits of the veg I'm prepping for Bolognese.
D: liver, onions, mash, peas, carrots, cabbage, gravy
    Syns: squirt of syrup, gravy

Ohh Macpep i'd love to do this - do you have a link to a post of the details or could you post what you have batch cooked for the month?

I made a 4 portion cottage pie yesterday - accidently used pork mince instead of steak :o it'll be fine though, OH won't notice :rotfl:I also made meatballs and falafels at the same time and really enjoyed it.

Its an excel programme I have Shala Moo, has taken a lot of input as I need to add SW recipes & ingredients to shopping list but now I just pick 7 meals for the week (in my case 4-5), tick which ingredients I use & it creates a shopping list, so well worth the effort. A few of them on here have it, Sukeyboo am sure has it. I cook all the meals I can over one long day, sunday dinner is cooked fresh & Sat is usually a takeaway for kids/fakeaway for us, but I do have things like gammon steak, fish etc that is cooked on the day x

I lost 1.5 last night, happy with that as 8lb in total & I get my shiny sticker next week as consultant had left them at another group.

    Todays EE Menu:-

    B - Kiwi, melon, grapes
L - SW Quiche (HEA), lettuce, cucumber, peppers, beetroot, salad dressing (1 syn), strawberries, melon, grapes
D - Maggis Mexican Chicken (1.5 syns), rice, veg
    Snacks - Yellow plums x 2
    Drinks - 2 x coffee (1 syn) green tea, 600ml water

Tonight is 'date night' so I have a wee bottle of wine tonight but spread the syns over M/T/W so still counted!
