Wording this neg?

Anyone happen to have any clever ideas for this?

I bought an item (Easily fits into a large letter, weight about 40g), with postage stated as 'Other Courier', £6.
The price combined with the postage was reasonable, if towards the bottom end of the range as I suspect that people were put off by the postage charge.

Turned up today posted 2nd Class PayPal postage (large letter- 69p). Needless to say, I'm a little ticked off. I wouldn't have been bothered if it had been sent first class or even signed for, but making well over a fiver on the postage (Even at first class rates- 90p) and sending it plain second class is taking the mickey.

Best I've come up with at the moment is a simple factual
'Charged £6 postage for 69p stamp'

Anyone think of anything better?

Was the item as described and sent on time?

If yes then any neg is very harsh in my opinion.

Positive with low star for p+p is ok.

Have you contacted the seller to query the cost at all?

People do use the postage to include the packaging/actual postage cost/time take to go and post the item/labelling etc

If you thought the total cost was reasonable, which you must have done, then why leave neg feedback?

If had been send for a service costing 21p more, you'd have been happy? Jesus wept.

You saw the price, you accepted and bid, leave a negative if you like but they have provided the service you paid for.

Have you actually contacted the seller about this? Only I know with some of the listings I do, in the postage box it doesn't always show an amount. Instead it is something along the lines of 'postage policy 45932' & if I'm not quite with it, I fail to check what rate this policy relates to.

If you have contacted the seller & received no response or offer of a refund I'd basically leave the feedback neg that you've already though up, perhaps add something along the lines of 'won't buy from again' & then hit seller with low stars on p&p charges. The low stars will have more of an effect than just a neg will.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Might be worth raising the issue with the seller before leaving feedback.

EDIT - Cattie beat me to it!

The total cost was reasonable, but the postage method quite blatantly wasn't.

I was happy enough to pay the total cost, but it's a blatant case of taking the mick to make well over £5 profit on the postage and not pay the extra 21p for first class. It's not so much the profit as the attitude from the seller, as he's deliberately changed to other courier and added a massive amount. If he overestimated (Which I find hard to believe if he's ever sent anything...), then adding first class would to me be a minimum service standard :)

And yes, I'm well aware of the packing cost, time to take to the post office etc. argument, and frankly this is absolute rot. If you want a minimum price for your item, load it onto the start price, not the postage costs. Sure you'll have to pay for your listing, but that's a cost of doing business.

    No they didn't.
The OP paid for a delivery service which was "Other courier" and they had it delivered by RM 2nd class mail.

Splitting hairs. Royal Mail can conceivably be called a courier. No doubt some will want to argue semantics for several posts.

There's no disputing the seller has loaded the postage to make money, but as has been said, and confirmed by the original poster, they were happy to pay the price, but having arrived by the postman and not on a van with a different logo, they want to leave a negative, but had the seller sent by a service costing TWENTY ONE pence more, they'd have been hunky dory happy.

    This thread is bonkers.

The original poster, is of course, free to leave the feedback they chose.

It's not splitting hairs nor is it semantics. It is a simple plain fact that the seller listed one service and chose to use a different one.

When you list an item for sale on ebay you are given several different options to choose from for the delivery service that you intend to use.
Royal mail 1st or 2nd class and "other courier" are 2 separate choices and there is no reason that RM should be chosen when you intend to use a courier.

It is semantics in this case, as the OP stated he would have been happy if the seller had sent via Royal mail, just via first class. (and admits the excessive postage may have worked in their favour by discouraging others from buying)

So we are effectively arguing over a difference of 21p in course, when Royal Mail second class has pretty much the same delivery estimate as an economy courier like MyHermes or Collect plus.

As I have said, the OP is free to leave whatever feedback they choose, it just seems spiteful and malicious when they state they are happy with the price, but had it turned up within the same time via a different service, the experience would have been "better".

Anyhoo, I've made my point, enjoy the rest of the thread.
