I can't walk along the canalside now but still want to meet friends so would often go in the wheelchair. They used to puff and pant going up the bridges at certain lock points
I couldn't imagine being pushed uphill continuously for 30 minutes. Thankfully, I now have the scooter - saves any more puffing and panting on their behalf:rotfl::D
she was in a wheelchair, with her leg stuck straight out in front
the problem was that she lives at the top of the 1/4 hill and the doctors/shops/council offices/everything! is at the bottom!
never been quite so glad that i am blind and wasnt asked to help push her up it!0 -

They do. But those who claim they can't walk and do things like the marathon, etc. do use their wheelchairs.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

My one friend is only a little woman and I used to feel very sorry for her when she had to push my wheelchair. Especially up hill.
One time, my daughter was going to push me but I had put the brake on so she couldn't move it and she thought it was because I was too heavy:o:o:D
Thankfully, I don't live on a hill. Your poor friend, if she took to pushingThere is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
she said that coming down the hill was harder than going up

My youngest used to think it funny to let go at the topIt is harder though because you have to hold back the weight to stop it rushing forward.
It's good she managed to get out though as I would have been tempted to stay in rather than force this on friends. At least when we went out, we could avoid hills as much as possible.

this thread aside....
Atos have proveb ove the years that their ability to carry out these assessments adequately is very much in doubt.
there will always be people that play the system, but it is really unjust5, the amount of ill/disanled people that are found to be 'fit for work'
and i am speaking as someone that has sailed through the assessments, but that is only because i have a condition that neatly ticks all the boxes
If you neatly "tick all the boxes" it's because that's what the system is for.
Many of the people saying "Atos are wrong. They found me fit for work" will indeed be fit for work.
They are just peed off that they aren't getting benefits anymore.0
