I'll speak to my midwife again today, but last week she said I would go straight on a drip if I needed induction as my cervix has softened and started to dilate so I've already gone as far as the pessary would get me. But she also said she didn't think I'd need inducing in a million years as I seemed so close to going- but that was 6 days and a sweep ago!

Edit: she did also mention that they could just break my waters as an initial attempt to budge things along. Will hopefully have more of a plan this afternoon

Ah fair enough sorry was just a thought :-) I have everything crossed for your sweep later!!

    Thanks cats :)

Snow- my pelvis feels very heavy, especially walking although sometimes it is better than others. My pregnancy waddle is pretty funny, especially as sometimes he hits a nerve and makes me leg go weak briefly.

Had my sweep, but midwife was not optimistic. Still only 1cm so no progress in 6 days, but either way by the weekend I will have a baby!

Snow- I've got my feet up now, after tutoring (early as it's half term, which I'm grateful for) as I'm trying to keep my ankles at a reasonable size.

Bean wasn't engaged at all when I went last week at 34 weeks. I'm not looking forward to this drop and the pressure. Apparently they call it lightening. Seems ironic.

oh Penguin, sorry your little one is so comfy, I'm already so impatient and i'm nowhere near due

I don't know whether it was because he was breech for so long/turned so late, but after my ecv I have no idea when I dropped/ the head engaged despite everyone telling me I would definitely know. I only had it confirmed last week by midwife that he was fully engaged (12 days after ecv). Yes there is pressure, but it's not constant and it's only been the last few days it has got uncomfortable at times and I am really quite mobile at the moment. So it might not be as bad as you think and some babies drop very late (or in labour)

I honestly never felt baby engage at all. Never even had proper pressure down there! The last time I was checked for the sweep she was well and truly there ready to go but I never felt it in the way people said I would. So everyone is different I think!

That really seems to sum up pregnancy/birth/feeding - the whole shabang really - everyone is different and it's completely unpredictable!!

arbrighton, definitely don't worry about baby engaging! I did feel mine engaging (to 2/5 palpable which according to midwife is fully engaged) but that was at 32 weeks and it was temporary. It's been fine for the last 5 weeks; hasn't really bothered me. I just feel like yesterday something else happened which has caused pelvic pressure (presumably going from fully to deeply engaged?!)
It's already not as bad as last night and I'm sure my body will be used to it by tomorrow! The human body is amazing at adapting!

I actually feel lucky that baby engaged so early as I missed out on breathlessness and heartburn altogether, because my bump never got high enough.

penguingirl, sorry it wasn't the news you wanted at your midwife appointment but love your attitude! It really is so soon for you now and the outcome (squishy baby) will be the same regardless of the specifics of birth.

So that's my penultimate day of work done! Can't believe tomorrow is my last day! I've been working more or less full time ever since graduating 8 years ago. Going to feel really strange not working!

Penguin really hoping this sweep gets things going for you and if not, you have a good attitude that you know it will happen by the weekend. I salute your patience, I'm impatient now!

Hoping no news from Vanilla is meaning sidetracked by a new arrival.

April re feeding, I think just go with your heart/instinct at the time. A fed baby is the only thing that matters :)

I've forgotten some of what I've read and I'm on my phone so harder to scroll back, apologies.
Feeling more 'lightening' down there, hoping to hear its further engaged on friday at the midwife. 2more weeks of work left, I'm really looking forward to having some time off and no stress for a little while.

Thanks ladies. I think I'm just starting to panic the closer I get. I know I shall be grand whatever I do, and baby will be happy but there will always be someone who has someone to say regardless of what I do.

Penguin fingers crossed the sweep has had its desired effect :) and if not as you've said you will meet your little one very soon.

Arbrighton I've not really found the drop much different. Baby was 2/5th on Saturday and there is pressure but as said by others I've not really felt it.

Enjoy the break Snow once you finish. I'm now 3 and a bit weeks in since I finished and it's finally dawned on me that its just not a holiday. Definitely take some time out for yourself.

Oh Cats you aren't half right there. If only everyone was textbook. I'm glad you and baby Clara are doing well. 10 weeks already, time certainly flies.

New hopefully these 2 weeks will fly by.

Feeling much more positive this morning. Out with the OH tonight if baby hasn't appeared by then (highly doubt it, but you never know). Plan for today is get some washing out, get to the bank and just potter around til then.

I am SO glad it's my last day. All going fine but the bump twinges and feral movements I'm having today are unreal... something is definitely going on. Did any of you ladies in later pregnancy experience an increase in movement and/or twinges at this stage? Wondering if it's Braxton Hicks? Which I don't think I've had before now; often my bump is quiet during the day and then just a lot of fetal movement in the evenings.

April, please don't bother what other people say.

I personally found breastfeeding lovely - but absolutely KNACKERING! If it's not for you, then it's not for you and that's that, and damn what anyone else says.

Penguin, fingers crossed for you. Irrational though it may be, it is upsetting when someone due after you goes before you :o

Arbrighton, mine is 38+2 and still kisking around in my ribs - id prefer him to be engaged

I went to my midwife appointment today and she asked why I hadn't 'popped this one out yet'... I said I've been wondering the same thing myself!

She said he looked far too comfy and isn't in the slightest bit engaged (confirmed he is still in my ribs). I told her that i have been consoling myself with the fact that they don't always go down until labour and she confirmed that, too.

She measured me at 40 weeks (I'm 38+2) and then listened to his heartbeat. He kept absolutely booting (no gentle nudging from this baby!) the Doppler and seemed to go absolutely mad. She said his heartrate seemed a bit high, she waited for him to calm down and it did a bit but then said she was referring to the assessment unit at hospital.

When she phoned through, she said his heartrate was 186

Dd has been dropped off at her friends and were now facing an at least 2 hour wait to be seen :o
