  • Had 36 week MW appointment. All good. She's spot on growth wise and all my tests are good. She is also engaged although this could still change! That explains the intense pressure and constant toilet breaks!

I also asked about the possibility of having a water birth this time as when I had DD at a different hospital they point blank refused it and I also wasn't allowed in the MW led centre due to my high BMI. The midwife is quite happy that providing I don't have any issues between now and labour starting there isn't any reason why I shouldn't be allowed to go in the pool! So very happy here!

    Good news musogirl!
I'm hoping for a water birth but we won't know if the pool is available until we actually get to the hospital.
I swore I would never complain about too much movement after an episode of reduced movement a month ago.
Baby is really having a dance off however and it is soooo painful.

On the subject of slings, wraps etc. I am looking for a nice easy one that I can literally just put the baby in and clip up. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have briefly looked at a Tula and a Baby Bjorn.

    Welcome!

I've never tried a Tula, but people I know who have had them say they are brilliant. I've got a Connecta and really liked it.

The best option is to look for one that carries the baby from knee to knee like they are sitting. A lot of baby bjorn and other similar carriers have a very narrow seat for the baby which can get uncomfortable for them (and you!) if using it a lot. Narrow base carriers can also exacerbate hip problems in a baby if it has them.

There is some general advice here: https://www.nct.org.uk/parenting/babywearing-and-how-choose-sling

This website has a summary of a lot of the main carriers http://www.showmeslings.co.uk/slings-for-hire/buckle-carriers-for-hire/

It's worth finding out if you have a sling library near you and you could go and have a look and try some out.

Wish we had a sling libary near by, I am really keen on getting a sling but would be great to try one out first.

    Thats fantastic Musogirl

I have a new chair at work - I enquired about a ball as I know others her have had them. Instead this arrived: http://www.gaiam.com/product/balance-ball-chair/95-1004_2.html

I have been on it for a week, more secure than a ball and actually quite comfy although I do take a break and sit on a normal chair every now and then

  • Hi Katy - no change here! Very uncomfortable although I've slept a bit better the past couple of nights. I'm getting a lot of downward pressure now and it feels like she's going to fall out! Don't remember getting that feeling with DD but it was 5 years ago so may have forgotten!

Been getting the last few practical things sorted today. Picked up a new washing up bowl for bottles and a new clothes airer so I don't have to peg out all the fiddly little baby clothes. I figure with the airer I can load it up and it can be moved inside or outside easily depending on weather. Finished stocking up the freezers with ready meals and husband friendly (pizza, chips, anything with instructions on the box!) food. I now have two freezers full!

I've been really uncomfortable today too. Currently in bed while hubby cooks as standing up isn't happening!

I need to sort through our freezer. We started cooking larger portions of everything a month or so ago and freezing the left offers. Didn't think to label the tubs though, so got lots of takeaway tubs of nice food, just haven't got a clue what it is!!

I've taken the Moses basket matress out of the packaging, washed and ironed the bedding and made the bed up today. It looks so cute!

Also finally got round to buying a lidded bucket to put used cloth nappies in ready to wash. I think we are pretty much just waiting now for baby to arrive

Hope everyone's ok, hang on in there!

Baby Heather was born yesterday at 3.12am weighing a whopping 9lb 3oz.
Had her in the pool with gas and air. Small tear that needed a few stitches but not too bad.

    Congratulations pm04gn!!!

I'm hoping for a water birth with gas and air. How long were you in the pool for?
    I'm getting excited now!
