    Congratulations pm04gn :T :T Lovely name :)

    Fingers crossed musogirl :)

My DS has come down with chickenpox :( I've had a blood test to check my immunity levels, though it should be ok as I've had it.

  • Rosie Emilia was born at 2.59 this morning weighing a tiddly 5lb 13oz, nearly 3 weeks early!

A not too traumatic labour. She had cord wrapped around neck which meant they had to do some invasive tests dyring contractions but she ended up coming with the aid of ventouse before they were finished. Somehow I managed with Tens and gas and air only!

Just been moved to ward so DH has had to go home for a bit. Sat here knackered but buzzing!

Congratulations! And what a lovely name.
How do they find out about the problem with the cord?

Awww congratulations Musogirl. You've just shamed me into getting my !!! in gear. I'm 38+1 and haven't even started my hospital bag. Oops.

Katy i wouldn't worry too much about the cord thing. My little boy had it round his next twice and they just slide it off when they come out. To have it round once is pretty common and they know exactly what they are doing. They only know when they pop out. But for some babies that along with positioning can cause them to start getting distressed. It's not that common for the cord being round the neck to cause distress alone, particularly if baby is fully cooked.

Thanks twinkkie, I needed to hear that.
Baby is very very active, the midwife often comments on how strong her movements are. Sometimes she does feel like she has wriggled herself stuck somewhere though and I do worry she is getting tangled.
Thank you for putting my mind at rest.

She was fully engaged the other day and felt very very imminent. After a night of lies of wriggling, she now seems higher than she has in weeks and I am hardly needing to pee again.
  • Katy - it sounds more dramatic than it is. They put me on the monitor when i first arrived and after a while noticed her heart rate was dipping with contractions. When that didn't improve they decided to do a test ( i think it was called fetal scrape or something) which in my high state i think was to collect a sampke of blood from her head for testing. This was alao because it was nearly 24 hours since waters had broken so risk of infection. The test had to be taken at certain points of a number of contractions and took quite a while, by which time I'd progressed from about 2çm to 9cm so they didn't bother with the results! Then she was born with cord around neck which was easiky dealt with but they believed the heart rate probkems were caused by that. Very common as twinklie says.

She is very sleepy and not taking much formula ( I haven't been able to produce any colostrum so far) and because she is so small we have to watch her temp dropping. So we may be home tonight if this picks up or more likely tomorrow I think.

    Thank you :)
Fingers crossed you get home soon.
I'm not surprised she is sleepy, she has had a busy day! Good luck to you both
