  • How is everyone? It's very quiet round here!

Sorry to hear about your midwife experience Mrshaworth

    Welcome jwil!

I am now 36 + 3 and fed up! I don't seem to be able to sleep for more than 30 mins at a time, my back is killing me and I'm getting the occasional painful Braxton Hick. Really hope I don't go overdue. Was 4 days over with DD by the time she actually exited. Equally I'd prefer it if she didn't come so early as to be born in August. Mentally I'm set for a September baby.

Anybody else fed up? I see there's quite a few names at the top of the list that we haven't heard from for a while.

Hi Musogirl, I'm still lurking around! Now 40+4 and despite being favourable at my sweep on my due date and then losing my plug nothing is happening.
I've fun out of things to do and watching a lot of tv. Which can't be good for me.

Fingers crossed your little one holds on for September. Don't worry about the Braxton hicks, I've had them since 18 weeks and it's most rubbish. Hopefully will mean a quick labour as the uterus is so well practised.

Wonder if slowly fading has popped yet, she must be plus 10 today.
  • pm04gn - we haven't heard anything from Claire either?

Hope you don't have to wait much longer.

Quick would be good! Had a mammoth labour with DD!

    Musogirl I feel your pain!
I am sleeping at random times and can only drink fizzy water which then gives me heartburn each time I lie down.
Think we are only two days apart with due date, so hope they both don't hang around too long!

Hi all, would someone mind adding me to the list please? I'm 24+3, due 5/12, although I will be having a planned section earlier. We are team pink and have a nearly 3 year old daughter and a nearly 18m old son so we will have 3 under 3 and a half. Crazy!

I had my GTT yesterday and we have our first consultant appointment next Monday. Looking forward to that as we haven't seen anyone to discuss any of our concerns with yet (I had a torn uterus during my last labour).

On the subject of slings, wraps etc. I am looking for a nice easy one that I can literally just put the baby in and clip up. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have briefly looked at a Tula and a Baby Bjorn.

  • Welcome bellola! I'm sorry I don't know much about the clippy type carriers. I had a Mei Tai with DD with was quite good and I've bought a simple stretchy wrap for this. I've been practising tieing it with one of DD's dolls and seems pretty straightforward and comfortable. The torn uterus doesn't sound much fun, ouch! Hope your GTT comes back clear.

Katy721 - Had a slightly better nights sleep last night with a couple of hour stretches between wake ups. I've found that I can't even nap in the day like I used to as I'm just so uncomfortable in every position. Thankfully I don't seem to suffer from heartburn but I have to say that I have been burping for England throughout this entire pregnancy. Really hope that symptom doesn't hang around after the birth!

Poor DD isn't getting much excitement this summer holiday. Today's big event is a trip to Sainsbury's to stock up on boring household essentials so we don't run out when bubs arrives. I did get a nice £8 off £40 spend voucher through the post to use on that. Will treat DD to lunch in the cafe to make the day slightly more interesting!

Silly question but how do I tell when I need to start timing things?
Been having braxton hicks all afternoon on and off, and now it seems to have changed to feeling like braxton hicks whilst at the same time being jabbed by little monkeys knees and elbows.

Midwife said I might get labour pains in weird places as I never get period pains in my back or tummy, but my legs end up in agony.

I don't really feel like I am in labour, had no other symptoms, but not had an episode of braxton hicks go on this long before.

This is not a medical question, it's a question about other people's previous experiences and how they knew when things kicked off!
  • Katy - I think I read somewhere that you should get checked if you're having more than 8 Braxton Hicks in an hour. In theory if they are the real thing they will increase in intensity. With DD mine were very mild and spaced out for a couple of hours before they got noticeably harder to cope with. Mine were also in my back as she was back to back. The BH's I've had this time have been all in my bump and not as low down as the real ones were with DD.

Thanks for that. They have stopped now thankfully. I think little one triggers them when she starts bouncing around in there
