Congratulations Milly - your experience sounds a lot like mine last time - but at least you are both well and happy now. Just make sure you get lots of rest. jane x0

Glad all is going good now :TGrats!
Just a slight warning - On the breastfeeding front little lady for me was ok the 1st night but she made up for it by being permanantly attached to my boobs on the 2nd night! So it might a be long night ahead for you. But at least if it is your know it's all normal ;-) Lots of sucking = a demand for lots of milk to be made in a few days ... ! :-D
Thanks for that Rebekah, I'll defivatly keep that in mind! I've just done a bit of manual expressing to keep my flow going in prep for when he is ready!!!!0 -
Congratulations Milly.
My daughter just slept for the first few days (makes up for it now haha) and i struggled to get her to feed. I had to wake her every 3 hours and strip her down to just vest and tickle feet to try and keep her awake.0 -

I remember that, and keeping her cool with a wet flannel or she'd just go back to sleep ! hoping this one is a gannet who can manage a feed in 10 mins and not 60 like DD1. Still she does eat anything now and still sleeps great.0 -
Congrats milly take it easy and lean on people as much as poss so you can recover. My little guy was extremely sleepy as well after long labour and emergency csection. Great to hear bubs has latched.

Congrats Milly!
Sorry for your loss Downhillfast.
Yes JediQuigley - hoping for a water home birth. This one is my last baby (#4) although I'm a little scared that if I need any pethidine I have to be taken by ambulance to hospital - I had assumed the midwife could give it to me. I don't get on with gas and air, it brings on my seizures so I'll have to hope I can get by on paracetamol, the water and hypno birthing or it's off to MLU for me. My mom has been a second birth partner for all my births and she's really excited about the water home birth. Last time, in MLU, we were left to it until my waters went and I started pushing but with a home birth there'll be 2 midwives with me and an ambulance within a mile, on standby so should be pretty safe. Is it the same in your area? I'm in Suffolk.
Anyone else in denial about how soon baby could be here? I'm hoping for 1.5.15 :-) but period type pains that got significantly worse last night freaked me out a little. I did get birthing pool out to check it inflated ok so that's something else done now lol.DD1 June 1997

How did it go sweety?
Well good (or bad). he had a really good feed last night after I tried some nipple shields. I think my nipples are too flat for him. So he spent 3 hours continuously feeding from 2-5 this morning and now I have very sore nipples. But lanolin cream is really helping. I did strip him down to his vest earlier today to wake him to get him feeding again. I probably need to do another feed soon but I'm just getting discharged!!!! Woohoo. He never cries when hungry so hard to say when is right to try but it's been a few hours now and the more I can do in the day, hopefully the less likely I'll need to be up for 4 hours straight in the middle of the night.
Not long to get home and we will try again! So glad for these nipple shields though! He really gets into the suckling now rather than just latching and then falling asleep!!!0 -

Can't say good enough things about nipple shields - with DD1 after about 2 weeks when I was cracked and bleeding and in tears at silly o'clock on a Sunday morning and about to cave and go for the formula I sent my hubby off to Boots the minute it opened to bring back anything that might help. He brought back Avent sheilds and lanisoh cream & a pile of other stuff, but the shields and cream helped immediately and allowed me to carry on feeding without any pain. I'd suggest everyone has a pack in just in case then you don't have to get into the state I did.0
