  • Hello to all the newbies & good luck to the ladies in labour!

I'm finishing work today, 33+1, I've got some leave I'm using up first & then maternity starts early March. I'm really looking forward to finishing but at the moment it doesn't feel like I'll be off work for nearly a year!

Also, Wendz, Doesn't your maternity leave automatically start as soon as you have the baby. therefore, if baby comes early you wont use up all of your holiday? I was going to do what you said but my HR said to go on maternity leave first then add the holiday to end of the maternity leave.

I think you might be right but did the same last time and she was 1 day early so think they just started it as planned. Will probably have a really early baby now haha.

My Due Date Twin - you've already finished!!! Jealous. Still 3 weeks to go for me.
  • Definitely not me in hospital - must be pington. Although I wish it was me as I am so uncomfortable.
Good luck to Pington and Mrs TM.

How do I join FB group also?
  • *whispers* I think Carrot is being confused with Pington! Pington was on the last thread but is only on the FB group now, not on this thread, and Carrot is a different lady having twins! Pington is the one in hospital at the mo! Remember when there were three ladies having twins on the first thread? Not sure what happened to the third one though.

Anyways, as for me I saw my consultant on Monday and I'm now booked in for a c section on 10th March! Baby is still breech plus previous complications hence the section plan. So exciting to have a date to look forward to :)

Hello to the newbies, nice to see the list filling up again! Thanks for doing the list Aunty Pickle :)

ah ok! yes, I remember Pington. well, positive birthing vibes for all who are due/overdue and being induced or whatever!!!
sorry it's not you Carrot! I can try sending you positive birthing vibes anyway if that helps?

ooh Tilly, a date for baby! glad you're ok with it. My best friend had a c-section date for her twins from 20 weeks as one was breech and the other transverse. She said it was all so calm and controlled and she had a really good experience!!!

I know, it's my birthday be t week & I had leave to use & then didn't fancy coming back for a week or 2 before starting maternity so decided to go a bit early. I'm still feeling pretty good & didn't really want to get to the dragging myself into work stage! I'll be gutted if I go 2 weeks over tho! Hope the next 3 weeks fly by for you! x

Thanks for adding me Aunty Pickle and glad they apologized for pressuring you!
  • Congrats to the ladies starting maternity leave, hope you have plenty of plans to keep you occupied and enjoy the rest!

AuntyP - hope you feel better soon and so glad you have positive feedback from the midwife, good luck with your next appointment.

Missy - hope your cough and cold clears up soon, my brother is a teacher and is sick every holiday!

    Hello to all the newbies!

Sounds like there will be baby news from others before me! I'm 8 days overdue now, naughty baby! Been having contractions since last night but not very often or regular so not sure they are doing much - ho hum!
  • :o:o:o Eeee, sorry for the confusion!! I blame baby brain :o Edited now to say Pington, sorry Carrot although good to hear from you :) Oh yes I remember there was another, was it Jaffacake or something? May have completely plucked that out of nowhere though :p

Tilly, exciting that you have a date now! Annoying that baby is still breech but at least it means you can fully prepare for that date!

Aww Nicky, sending labour thoughts your way to try and get those contractions coming more regular! Hopefully it happens soon :)

I'm feeling very jealous of those who are starting their maternity leave now or soon... as much as I'm enjoying half term, I've got to go back for 6 weeks :( Well, I put my leave date for 6 weeks time but if I feel like I'm struggling then I'll leave earlier. Will try and go the distance though!
  • I just used old knickers that I was happy to chuck away and cos they were old they were quite stretchy hehe

I am not sure I will bother with many maternity pads, I used a towel at home when waters broke with first, way to much for a pad to hold. I remember in the hospital they broke my other waters and I kept taking the maternity pads out the cupboard there they were a lot bigger then mine but they we're soaked through pretty quick.

I daren't read the labour thread, I don't want to get into negative thinking. I also don't watch anything birth related on TV.

Dh mentioned the other night he will pack his hospital bag soon ( planning home birth but will pack encase) I laughed and said it was too early as I am 28 weeks.

I have been off sick this week from work with a cold and sinus pain but it's been one of my best weeks yet as the tiredness hasn't been as bad and I have had no back pain.

Have midwife tomorrow, looking forward to getting my first belly measurement, will compare it with the one for my first baby and see if this one is bigger as it feels I am getting bigger quicker.

Would love to hear about some homebirth stories, fingers crossed for other ladies hoping for this.
