What a relief lolly! X0
-
that's great news lolly!
I've decided after today that I need to put my foot down at work.
if I was anyone else I'd have gotten myself signed off sick with exhaustion 2-3 weeks ago as I've been so rotten, but no, because we've got a statutory accounts deadline on Monday I have continued to go into work, but by the end of the day I get home and collapse, and at the end of the week I not only collapse but also find myself throwing up after I've eaten so I keep missing meals. I can't keep doing this to myself!
they're happy for me to throw countless hours at work and literally just collapse in a heap at home and do nothing there and I just can't keep existing like this. Once Monday is over (I know here I go again giving it all to work) I've Tuesday off, as flexi leave as I have hospital appointments and a scan, and if I don't feel any better i'll phone in sick on wed. I know I've still got other deadlines, one is next Monday but it's generally accepted we will fail to meet this deadline but I'm getting myself into a right state. Within 5 mins of getting to work this morning I had the runs, in a building with half the toilets out of action due to blockages, sods law they were the ones nearest our office, when I manager asked how I was, I said exhausted, I'd slept through the first 20 mins of my alarm clock this morning, had a stinking headache, and a dodgy tummy, and it was, 'oh ok' and then nothing. I eventually worked almost 9 1/2 hrs without a lunch break before being kicked out because 'I looked tired!', may also have had something to do with me rushing out of the office as I thought I was going to throw up the half banana I'd eaten.
sorry for the whinge and the complain, just feel so low and need to psych myself up for what I need to say and do at work next week.0 -
:j lolly :T
*ahem* lemontree - number 1 in looking after yourself is to NOT use flexi time for appointments but your legally entitled time off and save the flexi time for saving your sanity?
Sounds awful my lovely and you're absolutely right - if you don't look after yourself and the baby no-one else will. Lolz I had amanger at work suggest I could go and assess a patient who waved a knife at two colleagues. Not blooming likely i said and went and told another manager who fortunately agreed. However I would have taken this higher if need be.
Would your occ health department (if you have one) be any good?
Are you thinking of getting signed off by the GP for a week? Your job sounds like if you are not there, there is still just as much to be done when you're back?
BTW not a whinge from my point of view but a justified complaint about a hideous work situation. Take care you.Met DH to be 2010

Yay lollipops. Lemon, you need to look after you and that baby and it sounds like your manager is not going to take the hint so I think you are right. Is there anyway you can make your concerns official?
Thanks for the idea to cover bassinet mattresses with pillowcases. That will be a lot cheaper than other covers. Plus they can be used after.
Can we add the 'Do your pelvic floor exercises when you see this message' to the list? It was a great reminder.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

Great news lollypops. Must be a massive relief, and congrats on the promotion!
And LemonTree - that sounds totally horrible. You know the advice you'll get here, hard as it is to follow - Take the time for you and the baby. Almost 10 hours without a break sounds like something I don't even do on a good non-pregnant days any more! Even my wonderful work won't offer me time off, you have to ask.
Still feels completely wrong though doesn't it! I hate letting people down, but needs must. We will all cheer lead for you next week to take some time off.
I had a stressful workday today, despite being at home. There was a problem that I had identified a month ago, but no-one read the email properly. The other relevant party had said 'oh, ok - sounds ok'. So I assumed he had dealt with it. Now it's come back and people are faffing about asking me to fix it (and implying I shouldn't have let it happen). I just want to scream 'I TOLD YOU THE PROBLEM. YOU IGNORED IT.' I am more upset than I should be - I'm blaming hormones. Bring on the weekend.
On a much more fun note - I did a check of all the baby stuff we have and I think we are going ok. Lots of clothes (probably too many) and sleep suits. I think just need a packet of those baby vest things. Enough to get us started at least so I can stop worrying about that. Some is so cute though!! We bought 2 ebay bundles so a real mix of things which makes it fun to go through them. Including some super cute snow suits.
Ebay bundles are an amazing bargain. Great quality clothes (Disney, Next etc) for next to nothing. I highly recommend them. And I'm a fussy sort of person who normally likes new things.
I have probably too many tiny baby sleepsuits, but if he comes early we will need them. And can always pass them on if not.
We have our snugglebundl, have a new mattress for the cot and have reserved this for pickup on Monday. My MIL is buying a bouncer thing and baby's first toys for us.
Getting there! Being at home is dangerous for spending money on the internet...0 -

Lemon I agree with the others. You're entitled to paid antenatal appointments. Your flexi is for you! In your situation I would certainly be seeing my gp to be signed off- being put under so much stress can't be good for you or baby. Rest, you need and deserve to! Xx
I didn't take any offence at hippyish.

Lol. Don't google it in work!one of the exercises we do in lazy daisy is a massage alternative. This is the only way I can describe doing it! Imagine you're usain bolt getting into your starting blocks before the race.legs hip width apart (a fist or two width between your thighs puts them in right place) One leg is forward and knee bent at right angle, other leg is trailing behind with knee on floor. Hands on the floor and gently push your trailing leg away from your body so your more in a 'starting to get into the blocks position' iykwim... Then you need to transfer weight by rocking between back knee and forward foot- do it for about 30 seconds. Repeat on other side. Don't do this if you have hip problems. It stretches out underneath as well as your hip flexors. It's one of my favourites tbh...
Couldn't get my head around the contortion required for perineal massage. Googled it in work and spent about half an hour howling laughing at my (male) supervisor trying to get in position... :rotfl:0
