Luckily mil is a midwife too (at said hospital of doom) and when I told her she just said the doctors are standardly that rubbish. The doctors hate the midwives, the anaesthetists hate the doctors and the midwives hate evryone as they always want to over complicate things! C'est la vie I suppose- i'm going to try not to stress out about it and hope that baby turns before it runs out of room as the scan today showed breech. Little b*gger best turn or all this arguing and stressing is for nothing!
What all in ones did you go for- I got Little Lambs as they were the cheapest by far? I was looking at terry nappies with waterproof wraps for newborn but I really don't have the experience to know if this is a good idea or daft. Will have to go and pick friends brain I think and then try and stock up some second hand ones...0 -
MrsC- i'm with you. I won't have a tv in our bedroom never mind in babies. Not going to happen! My OH brothers all had tvs in their rooms when they were younger (from 4/5 or so) and I always thought it was quite sad they never sat with/ did stuff with their mum and dad.0

This means that the eldest from hubby's first marriage has his own room, baby will have the smallest room, and the other room will be shared by the 'new' one and the other two (from the first marriage) when they come to stay. It's a bit of a squash but not much I can do about it!
I refuse to have baby share with any of them as there are tvs in the bedrooms which I don't agree with and baby won't be having one of them until it is in at least double figures! MIL says I will relent when they're about three as I will want them to go to bed to sleep. My point exactly, bed to sleep not to lie and watch tv! And if she buys one for it it will not be going in the room!
Oh that's me getting a bit of a rant in there! I've already had to apologise to someone tonight as I've got my b1tch head on, if I didn't I'd probably be in tears! Hormones!!!!
Rant away - it's what we're here for! Back in the olden days of 4 channels :rotfl: we had one TV until I was in double figures. If my dad was recording the cricket all day then you could only watch the channel recording! Then we got the old one for computer games (my brother and I got a snes as a joint present) but you could watch videos, though no tv or recording. I got my own TV as a present for a levels to take to uni. It as colour but had the turny knobs for reception! I want to avoid TV in the rooms, but I wonder for our kids if the computer/tablet is going to be the issue...
Well glad things are decided - at least decisions can be made then about issues like sleeping arrangements and so on. Impressive stress management from you!
Forgot to say - had ridiculous mini meltdown on the way. On Wednesday did 2 and a half hours driving during the day for work (on and off) and then drove 3 hours to get here. Got lost, couldn't find anywherre to pull over and then no reception to check with DH so ended up in a layby sobbing my heart out. DH finally got through to me and I managed to get somewhere easy for them to meet me. Bless me - overheated and over tired.
Right non pg question - those of you with pets, do you let them lick your finished plates clean if sauce etc? We're staying with my in laws who give the dog pretty much all our plates and crockery to lick clean before washing up. I think this is VILE but I do not have any pets.Met DH to be 2010

Er, maybe but I am hoping to bf whilst doing blw so may continue for up to a year (not sure I could do 2 years like WHO recommend but never say never)...
Why do people who know nothing about Bf, for whom it is outside their training and remit, make comments like this? I love seeing people like this as I am feeding my DD who is 5 next month! (And i thought I wouldn;t get beyond six weeks! Once you get past a year it's so easy there's no point in stopping.)RobotsinDisguse wrote: »
Skintchick - how are you today?
- who had the hip/pelvis pain? Do def mention it to Midwife when you see her, it can't hurt (no pun intended!)
I have SPD - have been referred for physio but haven;t heard anything yet, but my osteopath worked on it for me, and in yoga I worked on adductors and that has really helped. they are the muscles in your inner thighs, so I've been stretching them out and it has helped loads.
Re gifts, think beyond the newborn stage. you could have money for baby swimming, for baby signing, or for casts of hands or feet. We had casts of DDs feet done and I love them. We had these http://www.babyprints.co.uk/casting-options-1/baby-cast/ and they are so unusual - actual casts of the actual little feet (or hands)! Aww they make me go gooey!
This time if people ask, I will be asking for people to come and do cleaning/cooking instead of gifts as we have everything we need really. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

BTW loving the hippy-esque vibe. I've always been eco conscious in that I started reusing bags before everyone else did but with the baby I am also keen to do this wherever I can and am definitely a fan of thinking about all the issues like delayed cord clamping, so love hearing all you other guys ideas and thoughts. DH himself has come with the idea of reusable nappies and we do have some from ebay. I am scared at how to use them and if I can keep up with the washing but only one way to find out!Met DH to be 2010

Oh! Calf stretches. I stand on the stairs with my heels hanging off the step then lower my weight into my heels. I can't get a good stretch against a wall as I am very flexible. On the stairs you can take it really deep. :j

Haha Lilmiss I have to admit RE pets that I secretly do this - but not in front of anyone. I love them so much I can't help it. I justify it by saying to myself they do get thoroughly washed after but yes it is vile!0

Lilmiss I let my doggy lick the plate but not every day! Only of we've had something like a roast dinner with gravy and it's only my plate! But I give it an extra scrub too! I love my doggy and don't think he has any diseases or germs that would bother me, so much so he sleeps on my bed!0

[QUOTE=LailaP;
Is anyone getting night cramps? I keep waking up with savage pain in my calves. I was told to drink tonic water or bitter lemon and I have been for a week but nothing is helping. Anyone have any tips please?
Feeling pleased with myself as managed to finish off buying all the bits for the hospital back today, I'm only 26+4 but I like to be organised![/QUOTE]
Me! Also started in my hands!! I know magnesium deffo helps, and I hardly got any last week whilst on holiday which I put down to walking and lots of water.
Asked my pregnancy yoga teacher tonight who advised lots of nuts seeds and leafy veg too
I feel your pain!

TBH i've never considered myself hippyish but I think being pregnant has made me look at things in a very new way (also as what I want is so different to what my mum did she deems it hippyish...).
I have to admit my first thought with reusables was definitely financial but after I started looking into it the eco side did come into it- also can't stand the idea of all that poo fermenting in landfill evolving into who knows what- disclaimer, not actual science but in my head it's what's happening!) Reusables for me are still primarily cost, no chemicals on baby, earlier potty training and then eco considerations (probably, sometimes this order changes a bit but they're the reasons!)
I've started to recycle a lot more- though that's mainly because I have access to a recycling bin now I've moved to a house rather than a flat. And most things I've bought second-hand, again for financial reasons but also because waste gets to me now in a way that it didn't before. I've never been the sort of person who wants everything new but now I'm the sort of person who wonders if they can get it secondhand first. Went round babies-r-us before seeing the things I'd bought for buttons and just being horrified at how much they cost new!
Lilmiss, i'm with you. It is vile but it doesn't stop OH giving the cat his plate to lick ("but he really likes spag bol/ pesto chicken/ curry/ cake & custard"). No wonder the cat is obese....0
