My first loaf of bread in the breadmaker went well so feeling very pleased with day.
Thank you for the reminder! Off to start some bread so that I can take sandwiches tomorrow. Have a good week, (virtually) see you all when I'm back from Spain.0 -
Thanks for all the kind words. Some good news, one of my staff members text me this evening as she found an advert for the boots on Facebook! I rung the police and they said if we can get an address for the woman that would be great. So I know we have her address back in the store off of her loyalty card but she is selling the boots at less than our cost price so I'm worried they will go before we can access the details tomorrow so one of my friends is posing as a buyer to 1) get an address and 2) stop anyone else buying. I've told her she can't actually buy them though cause she'd get done for handling stolen goods!0

Oh and disney_pluto mine start on the 2nd of July and I'm 32+6 at the moment, it does seem too late doesn't it!! I assume it's so we don't forget everything but I do worry about an early birth and not knowing anything  .0

I've yet to find out about our antenatal classes, I'm hoping the midwife will give me details at my 28 week appointment, though I'm worried that they will be full and I won't get to go.0

In my area they told me at my 16 week mw appt to ring a number (on a leaflet stapled to my handheld notes) straight after my 20 week scan. I rang in week 21 and there was some teeth sucking (IFKWIM) but they booked me in for the one day free hospital class when i am 30 weeks.
At the same time I booked onto NCT which is weeks 33-35.
cmace - hope they bust her! :mad:Met DH to be 2010

Was just saying on the other thread that I am watching what to expect when you're expecting. All the high heels, skinny non varicose legs and non blotchy, red, flaky skin bumps are doing me no favours! Time to turn over I think...Met DH to be 2010

Huge congratulations Derby! That sounds like quite an epic birth, I'm so glad you and baby are well. At that early your colostrum might need encouraging, but keep at it & it will come (I was 7 weeks early, 33 yrs ago and my mum managed to express colostrum with help from nurses and a fancy pump).
Oh gosh teacake at absolutely awful. I really hope the insurance companies are savvy and you can get it sorted without having to pay her other costs - it sounds a bit like she was looking to cause an accident if you ask me.
Cmace - how horrible he is hoping the police can act on the Facebook reports; I've heard of that being successful before.
Lemontree- yay! I'm really glad hubby has pulled his finger out - it is great when they finally do isn't it?
Re antenatal classes - my midwife told me to phone up around week 20 (but I got told that was too early to book!) but I asked nicely & because of my risks I was let on to the May course instead of June, which is the one I should've been on. 3 x 2hr sessions at a sure start centre. I was the oldest by far, it was quite simple but good to know the pain relief available, & processes at hospital. They mentioned skin to skin, delayed cord clamping and active birth positions which made me very happy & I was quite surprised.
I researched NTC - really couldn't afford £200 and couldn't see what much more it would give me for that.
So I joined a lazy Daisy birthing (£40-£60 for six weeks) it's been wonderful - yoga, breathing techniques, self hypnosis, guided meditation, active pain management and birthing. I'm actually nearly finishing my second term and I couldn't rate it more highly. Please forgive the badly spelt alias... I have had no mention of or info about any NHS classes, I have no idea if they are even available locally. But we have booked NCT classes anyway, which are in August. I will be 35 and 36 weeks pregnant though which I think seems quite late!
I am really annoyed with myself this morning. Hubby got up at 5am as usual for work, I went to the loo and came back to bed, but made the mistake of quickly popping on to my iPad. Now it is nearly 9.30am and I have neither got up, nor gone back to sleepit is time to get up now and I am so cross with myself as I could have had hours more sleep, and I know I will be tired all day!
I am cooking dinner for 8 tonight and need to give the house a serious tidy as some relatives who have never been here before are coming round. And I feel all bleary eyed, but it is entirely my own fault because I could have gone back to sleep but didn't!
Blimey, listen to me...imagine what I would be like if I had real problems!0 -

Does anyone else have a 3 door car? I have a 10 year old clio that I can't afford to replace with a 5 door. Am worried about how i'll get a car seat in and out of the back as don't want baby in the front and I have a dodgy back... Was looking at a keep in the car seat (this one http://www.mothercare.com//on/demandware.store/Sites-MCENGB-Site/default/Product-Show?pid=859259) but unsure if it'll fit/ how to get a baby in to a rear facing seat without being a contortionist/ if I should use a non-isofix seat. Anyone else in the same boat? What seat have you gone for?
Hi Teacake, I'm in exactly the same position 10 yr old three door micra - with a broken boot catch & radio which I have to repair before selling so then can't afford to buy a better car so I'm kind of stuck in a predicament.
Like you I'd want baby in the back. But added to my problems is the fact my 12 year old dog sits in the front foot well. I don't want on the back seats & can't open the boot and so I'm freaked out if there was an emergency getting her and the baby out would take too long & will be too complicated.
Plus the M&P car seat, have now found out thanks to here, is past the American standard of five years so we need to think carefully about replacing it. Husband says it must be fine (no uk regulation) and isn't willing right now, because he worked all weekend, to look into alternatives.
So sorry teacake that I have no advice I'm hoping someone else willPlease forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.0 -
good morning girls
I did the NHS classes, I got told about them at 16 weeks (I think) and was told to ring up about them after my
20 week scan which I did. I think I was 32 weeks when I did them. 3 x 2.5 hour sessions at a sure start centre near me like somebody else mentioned. I enjoyed them actually, the midwife was really nice. I think they were quite helpful for my OH in particular.
so last night we ended up taking a 10pm trip to the hospital as I had hardly felt baby move all day and I was getting really worried. even an icy cold drink wasn't getting her moving. I went down there and got strapped to the monitor for an hour or so, and everything was fine with her heartbeat etc. she still didn't do much moving but them towards the end she was going mad having a party in there! it was slightly embarrassing cos it was really noisy ha. but the midwifes were really lovely and said it's right to just come and get it checked out.
what was strange is there's one sensor pad that monitors contractions and when the print out came out of the machine it had a lot of rises and falls, she said had I felt anything, as they looked like pretty strong contractions but I felt nothing at all and she said they must be Braxton hicks that I can't feel! quite regular too. I thought that was strange
I'm relieved everything was okay but now today I'm slightly worried again that I haven't felt her move all morning when she's usually really active. I don't know what to do, I think I'll just wait til the end of the day and see what happens. ah this pregnancy lark is a little stressful!
