    Congratulations!

I think I'd almost convinced myself we were having a girl, but partly because we both sort of hoped for a boy (he's the first boy in his generation in either of our families - there are girls everywhere!) and I didn't want to be disappointed...

We've mainly got gender-neutral clothes, but there are some amazingly cute outfits out there <3

Been at a first time expectant parent class today, it was actually really useful and interesting . If anyone else's hospital runs one I reccomend going! Although it might have just been that the educator we had was really good.

Apparently from 35 weeks (but not sooner!) She reccomend raspberry leaf tea because there is evidence that you have a shorter 2nd stage of labour! Apparently it causing labour is a myth though . She was very evidence based in what she said

We really enjoyed our parent class too. And the breastfeeding one. Both the women running them were very down-to-earth and practical.

I've been taking raspberry leaf tablets. Who knows if it'll work, but I actually quite like the taste...

Congratulations Munchkin! I'm sure he'll be wonderful )

We have booked an NCT course of 5 classes and have 4 NHS classes booked with our hospital (breastfeeding, active labour and birth, birth preparation and hospital tour and a grandparents class) - All of which happen to fall in November. We're both first time parents and like to be prepared so want to get as much info as we can. We're both really looking forwards to them.

The NCT course was recommended by a work colleague as he and his wife found the course useful but also they're still friends with some of the people they met and the group still meet up regularly - their NHS ones has different people in the classes so they didn't really get to know anyone

I'd heard we weren't supposed to take raspberry leaf early in pregnancy but nothing else so i'll have to start looking into that - thanks for the info ladies.

  • I’ve got my second antenatal tomorrow and hubby will be coming. They have an empathy belly that I’ve told him he’s wearing tomorrow.
There was only one dad there last week out of the four mummies. And I learnt a lot so am keen for him to come too.

...My OH comes complete with an inbuilt 'empathy belly'...doesn't kick, but it's big enough!

Our NHS class was just a one day affair, and almost everyone was there with a partner. About 20 of us, we've set up a Whatsapp group and are meeting up on Thursday for coffee :D

We might have done NCT if there had been one close to us. I'm going to a 'Bumps and Babies' session in a pub tomorrow, with a friend who has a new baby, that's NCT, but you don't have to be a member.

Hello. I'm joining you. 24 weeks today, EDD 4th Feb but I'm having a section so will be earlier than that. Having a little girl (we think). Already got DS who will just have turned three when this one arrives.

Ah I decided not to do nct because I'm stingy. My sister got quite into it though when she has her kids and made some friends through it.

I'm socially awkward and bad at making friends so I do worry a little I might be in for a lonely time as a new mom but I'll try and go to some baby groups. I'll be back at work by August anyway though

I've passed my second glucose.tolerance test now so need to remember to try harder to have less sugar on days I see the midwife so they stop referring me!

    Welcome rambosmum:)

  • Just had the health visitor round. She seems really nice. Given me loads of stuff to read. And the support available ifI need it sounds good.
I’m feeling sick today, not sure if I’m hungry or was anxious about her coming round.
I’ve got yet another cold. Third one this pregnancy so I’m feeling (and looking) pretty rough.
Been sleeping on the sofa as I can’t get comfy in bed.
    Hope everyone is well x
