Thanks for popping back penguingirl. Nice to hear things are settling for you, sounds like you've got a good routine now.

I've called by here to check the hospital bag list for things I'll need to buy as I noticed a supermarket baby event so there may be some things I can get at decent prices for it.

Thought I'd update the list while I'm here (adding Pink_Giraffe makes me feel better about having so little ready as it keeps me no3!). I've been reading some of the older posts on the thread too while it's been quiet, can't believe there were regularly 40-50 people on the lists considering they're now so small.

Hi Ladies, I'm popping my head back in here too - can't believe how quiet its gone either!
My first is due on 27 September. Had a total panic this morning when I realised I've only got just over 6 weeks to go (somehow I lost a week?!?).

If there are any thread graduates still lingering, I'd be really grateful for any suggestions on soft/nursing bras for larger chests! I started off big enough (34F) but its now reaching ridiculous proportions (38HH). I've stuck it out with underwired until now as there just wasn't anything else up to the job :rotfl: but think I'll need to accept to go to something softer soon as the bump is really taking over.

Pink-Giraffe - I can't believe what a shock that must have been for you! I hope you're starting to get your head around it a little now? I have found myself starting to panic these last few weeks, after coasting through before then!

Saver-J & More - how re you both doing?

I'lll update the lists now that I'm finally on a computer for a change!

Oh, I also noticed that the Aldi baby event starts this week on 17/08 - there are some online deals available today for delivery after 17 August

  • I'll have to have a look at the Aldi baby event - thanks for the heads up! They have a sleepyhead type snuggle nest - I think I want to buy a real sleepyhead - does anyone know if they are worth it/when have you used it? I've got a Moses basket/cot/swinging chair already.

Also looking at play mats if anyone can recommend one?

Keekee- I bought some maternity bras from Debenhams in their sale down to £6 from £28 - I'm not sure on their sizes but I'm a 32D (ended up having to buy extenders for the back so pretty sure I'm no longer a 32D!!)

Finally on mat leave as of today, starting to feel very nervous, it's the unknown of the birth!!

Thanks More, I'll take a look at those!

I've also heard good things about the sleepyhead. A friend gave me something similar so I'm going to give that a go first. Btw there are also baby deals in Boots this week, but I'm not sure if that's only if you're a member of their baby club.

Moreofthegoodstuff-J loves his playmat, but didn't get much from it until 7/8 weeks. We got ours in Tesco for £15 (don't know how much they are in Aldi)

Keekee- I think general recommendation is to wear soft bras for the first 6-8 weeks until supply settles as your boobs fluctuate so much. And not to wear underwires for 4 months. I'd recommend 2 Facebook groups- 'can I breastfeed in it' who I'm sure would suggest something, and 'boob or bust' that checks bra size and makes recommendations (it will likely give you a smaller back size than you expect as they say most support should come from the band, and the old method method of adding 4 inches isn't supportive enough. I thought I was a 34B pre- pregnancy, a 36D in pregnancy and it reckons I am now a 30ff! Not tried it yet, but others rave about it)

Thanks so much, penguingirl, that's super helpful. I'll take a look at those pages today. Also very useful to have the suggested timescales.

pengingirl, you'll be pleasantly surprised when you try on that 30ff! It wont be far off, if any.

If using a sleep nest check if they're approved for overnight sleeping. Sleepyheads and some others are but many cheaper versions aren't.
