When I was induced, it was actually down to baby being dehydrated, believe it or not! If you feel thirsty then keep drinking, especially while it's warm and humid.
That's noted- thanks for that, I shall keep drinking!! How was your induction? I'm having a growth scan on Friday as I'm showing too big (for a 5"1 size 8 person I have a huge bump) and they may induce me which is nerve racking.
I've been doing well but I'm so scared, I don't want to be a mess, screaming and shouting or out of control, I worry about not being able to cope with the pain or for things to go wrong.0 -
More we bought a sleepy head 3/4 days after our wee one was born and it was honestly a god send. I would highly recommend one, have a look for a 2nd hand one though as they are expensive. There was no second hand ones around me at the time, but on the upside they do have a good resale value.
Would highly recommend the Aldi wipes, they currently have a box of 12 for £5.75 I think. Also download the boots app and make sure you sign up for the baby club. They have loads of great freebies/offers that I used to stock up my hospital/baby bag.0 -

I worry about this too but on the other hand I just want to do whatever will get me through! I've just had my 28 WK mat appt and my baby is measuring on the small side so have to for a monitoring appt tomorrow at 9. I'm just about to go on hol for a week otherwise it would be a scan but that will be booked tomorrow. The midwife has tried to assure me that its probably fine - baby was lying diagonally so hard to measure and its my first so it was measured against an average but everything had been progressing well so I am slightly worried0 -
Hi there,
Am I ok to join? EDD is 27.11.17. My due date has changed a few times but Doctors suggest sometime around the 19th November! I guess there's no telling and I was super premature so who knows?!
I hope all are well. It's been good to catch up on the posts on this thread.
So excited to soon be a Mummy!
I'm currently 26 weeks, working full time.Married in 2016. Bought our first home in 2017. Expecting our first baby in November 2017
Frugal & thrifty as much as possible.0 -
Hello to dramarama and twentysomethinggirl! I too bought my first house got married and having a baby within a 13 month period. Nothing like getting it all done quick!
Had my monitoring appointment all is normal plus got to hear my baby's heartbeat for the first time. Just have to go back for a scan but I can rest a bit easier
Planning to hit charity shops over the next week. Picked up a few bodysuits for 50p each and a job lot of muslins at one so keeping my beady eye out!0 -

Well, induction wasn't the most fun thing I've ever been through, but you know what? I got a lovely healthy baby at the end of it. Once you're in labour you won't be thinking about it or worrying about any of that stuff, and there's always pain relief available (I used much more than I expected). But you'll get through it - and the more you can relax the better, hard as it is. Look forward to hearing your good news in due course x
Edit to add: Scans and measurements are notoriously unreliable - I had a small bump, Zoe was born at 42+1, and the scan at 42 estimated her weight as 7lb3. She was born 8lb14! They thought she'd stopped growing at the placenta was failing, none of which turned out to be the case, but you just have to make your best judgements on the information you are given!0 -
I was also induced and it was not as bad as I feared. Mainly boring as there's a lot of waiting around and monitoring. Once my waters had broken I had J within 6 hours in the pool so I ended up with a great labour, it was just very anxiety provoking waiting around (J was 13 days late!)
I'd also really recommend hypnobirthing, it really helped with my anxiety 3rd trimester and I used it a bit in labour. I just used the free mp3 tracks you can find on Google, but I have done quite a bit of mindfulness before and the is overlap. I downloaded the book but never read it...0 -
Thanks ladies- I don't think they allow pool births if you're induced at the hospital where I'm due to give birth. I would absolutely love to have a water birth! I've got the hypnobirthing books from the library - I need to have a read like now!!!! I've done pregnancy yoga and learnt a lot of breathing techniques and positions.
I'm going to keep positive reading your stories and looking forward to the scan later!0 -
Good Morning All,
Could I join please?
I'm 20+2 with my second baby. I have a little boy who has just turned 3, and we're expecting a little girl on 10/01/18.
I'm working full time but hoping to hold out until 19th December - as I work in a school i'm going to try to make it to the xmas hols. My little boy was born 17 days early so i'm hoping this baby stays put until at least after Boxing Day!!
I was very poorly when I was first pregnant this time, ended up on anti-sickness meds for about 5 weeks - I've managed to come off them now. I wasn't being sick as such it was just the constant nausea/motion sickness feeling etc - I lost 11lbs in 14 weeks. Fortunately I have plenty of reserves!
We had our 20 week scan this week and all is good with baby. She was rather unhelpful when getting measurements but we got there in the end.
