Hello may I pop my head in the door? Currently 27weeks plus 2 days, due 15th Nov with my first! Money saving head is in full gear towards this so am looking to hit aldi with its baby event and just took advantage of tu 25% off to get some basic clothing (we don't know the sex so stops me buying pink or blue!), already picked some bits up from the charity shop.

Beginning to get what I am sure are normal first time mum worries - will I be ready, will I be able to breastfeed and will my 2 cats be OK with all of this??

I was really worried about my cat. He's an indoor cat who likes a lot of attention. When I was was pregnant he has UTI symptoms, and the vet thought it was stress related. But he's been fine. He leaves the room if J cries, and he's a nightmare for thinking everything is his so i put old towels over the chair, baby gym etc when not in use. He got in mood last night as I wouldn't let him in the cot at bedtime!

In terms of breastfeeding, work out where your local support groups are, get numbers such as the la leche league (we have a local organisation in my area) and join some Facebook groups. For me all that support has been invaluable. I underestimated how hard and how time-consuming it would be initially so take it one day at a time. And from 6 weeks it does get easier and more convenient as baby gets quicker at it and feeds less constantly.

Vanilla- I am still living in my sia bra!

Thanks for the advice penguingirl! Our two are young and outdoorsy and I've kept a cut out from pets at home mag which had a few tips. Job this week is to find local support groups. I have booked on a sep breastfeeding workshop as well as antenatal classes
  • I know that being thirsty is normal in pregnancy, but at 38 weeks it seems to have stepped up a gear, today alone I've had 3 PINTS of milk and constant glasses of water or squash, I just can't stop! Is this normal so close to the end? I had my bloods done a week ago to check iron levels and nothing has been mentioned?

    Hi all

keekee - thanks for the heads up on Aldi, managed to pop in at the weekend, though the things in our local store seemed a little more geared to toddlers than babies, or perhaps that was just what was left by the time I went in.

more - sorry no idea on the sleepyhead, or recommendations for a playmat, but from what penguingirl says sounds like we've time to sort the latter. But Tesco have their baby event on too so may be worth checking oout. Congrats on being on maternity leave! I don't know about the thirst, I know you need more because of increased blood volume throughout pregnancy and for breastfeeding so if your milk's coming in could it be related to that? Have you mentioned to your midwife? Thirst can be diabetes related as well so worth checking with someone if you can.

Thanks to all with recommendations on bras, I'm waiting a few weeks before sorting nursing bras as expect them to grow more towards the end, though already getting stretch marks on them

welcome whizzybee. They sound like totally normal worries to me. I'm totally not ready, and also concerned about feeding, though trying to stay relaxed about it. I need to look into more groups, find more info about that, as the nearest laleche group to me is 10 miles away and I won't have a car so need something a bit easier to get to. penguingirl thanks for popping back with your reassurance that it should get easier.

As for me, doing ok, been told to slow down a bit as had some concern about movements, everything was fine when monitored, and felt a bit of a fool when I went in and baby moved more while I was monitored than had in the previous 24 hours, but was told I'd totally done the right thing, and just to rest a bit more.

I shall be taking a look at the Tesco baby event - thanks saver-j. Sainsbury's also has a sale on with 25% off of already reduced clothes and full price clothes so worth looking in the baby section if anyone needs anything.

Getting more and more nervous as the days go on for this labour that could start any day!!

Thank you for the warm welcome :) much appreciated!

I had my first limb under the ribs last night, which made me happy and wince at the same time! Ive noticed that under my ribs is beginning to ache during the night - probably the weight of my bump now so I'm trying my pregnancy pillow. Have to say, it feels weird because it is so large but no pain last night and I felt well supported :)

Anyone had any luck with the boots baby event? thats on at the moment (as they were so kind to email me to remind me) but I haven't spotted anything personally. Tried aldi's but didn't pick anything up.

My biggest sticking point at the moment is the pram. We live out in the countryside and we have narrowed it down to ones we like, but they are not cheap. Wanting one with ruggedness and a fairly decent suspension. The made for mums website has been good for comprehensive reviews but damn us for having expensive taste! My lovely friend has come to the rescue and is loaning us her travel system so at least we can hold out for a really good deal (or panic when we have to hand it back!). From my rather extensive budgeting, it seems like this will be our biggest spend so I am happy to stretch the budget if I know I am going to get a lot of use out of it too.

    Anyways, Ill stop rambling!

:hello: Hello everyone, I've popped over from the 12-24 week thread. I'm due 6 December with my second and in full on nesting mode! I'll look forward to chatting to you all x
  • moreofthegoodstuff - I was incredibly thirsty in the latter stages, and was easily drinking 3-4 pints of squash a day. When I was induced, it was actually down to baby being dehydrated, believe it or not! If you feel thirsty then keep drinking, especially while it's warm and humid.
