    Hiya MOTGS,

I was sick every morning when pregnant with my little boy, but once that was out the way I felt absolutely fine. I'm not going to lie - i've found the first 4 months of this pregnancy so difficult. You forget how rubbish life can be when you don't feel well. I have quite a stressful job as a Deputy Head so it was all very much a struggle. I have thoroughly enjoyed 6 weeks off to prepare for baby/organise nursery and have lots of family time.

Completely worth it though obviously - i'm over the moon we're having a baby girl as I was secretly hoping for a pink bundle this time, and we're lucky to have got pregnant again and fairly easily.

I'd like to avoid her arriving between 23rd December - 27th December. Between 20-23rd Dec would be fine, after 27th December would be fine. I just don't want to disrupt Christmas too much as my little boy will be SO excited as he'll really understand it this year!

Thanks ladies- I don't think they allow pool births if you're induced at the hospital where I'm due to give birth. I would absolutely love to have a water birth!

It's worth double checking- mine allowed it if you were induced via pessary or breaking waters, but not by the oxytocin drip, and the policy was that the drip shouldn't be the first method of induction (they have to have tried the others). For me the pessary didn't do a huge amount, but eventually they broke my waters and it was all go. They had prepped a delivery room without a pool and had the drip ready, but when they examined me they allowed the plan to be changed.
  • The baby measured at 8lbs 2... with the potential to go another 3 weeks (with the two weeks over) so looking like it's going to be a big baby, really worrying for someone with a small frame- they won't induce me until it's 9lbs 9. I've had a worrying day- I just can't imagine giving birth to such a big baby, if it carries on they said it will be in the 9 pound region but no one will say the general weekly growth each week after 39 weeks. They wouldn't even sweep today- they said they will will sweep on my due date next week.

I'm so scared it's going to be over 9 pounds! Looking through my newborn clothes I'm feeling really sad and also totally panicked - I was scared before but I'm even worse now.

Hope you're ok moreofthegood stuff. I can't really comment as I've not had my baby yet but I am sure you will be fine, our bodies can do amazing things. Have you got someone you can talk to about your worries?
See if you can speak to friends/family who have had babies or even your midwife for extra support, please don't worry. X

Hope you're feeling a bit better moreofthegoodstuff, J was 8lb 11.5oz and I am only 5'2/ small framed. I had a huge bump! When I went in at 39 weeks to have him turned as breech (ouch) they could see he was big and the midwife who was a similar build to me said she'd had 2 9lb+ babies and that they were strong so often delivered well. I found that a helpful reframing. I have friends who had much smaller babies that had more difficulties than I did. Also he felt do strong once he was born (eg could always lift his head) and that was lovely. The last few weeks are really scary though
  • Thank you - I do feel better today, I'm trying to keep positive and think what will be will be.. I took some clothes back today and got some bigger sizes which made me feel better (I know that sounds silly!) they weren't that much bigger so I'll take some comfort from that!

I was left for over two hours yesterday waiting for the decision and just got a chat in the waiting room after all that so I think that added to my frustration and then everyone's shock at the size! :( I'm glad I haven't been breech penguingirl- they did suspect it so thank god it wasn't- it sounds like you had a tough time of it! x

I had a bumpy road to get to labour, but in the end had a great experience which I hadn't anticipated with being induced. And J is thriving (although should be in bed but isn't as we've been at a barbecue so he thinks it is party time!)

Hi Alipops! I think I either remember you from the pregnancy threads last time round or the wedding threads! I have a daughter coming up to 2y 8m.

For anyone that's scared of having a giant baby, don't be! I was shocked my daughter was 10.5lb, as no one in our family is large and I measured average at every check. Its all still doable and even my 100 centile baby wore 0-1 month for a few weeks.

It's so nice today, daughter is napping and I'm having a little rest with my feet up - ankles have started to swell already!

Haha my phone autocorrected to 100 centimetre baby, now that would be something! :rotfl:
