firebird thats good baby is moving in the right direction. I agree much better with the weather cooling down.
I had midwife this morning and had my sweep, nothing much seems to be happening but I'm 1cm so that's a good start. Ended up being referred to hospital as blood pressure was a touch high, but when there is was spot on, if not better than pre pregnancy. Wish they had just re checked me after an hour at the midwife as would of saved a trip to hospital but never mind, just glad all was ok.
Hope everyone else is ok.Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Question for those of you who've been induced - our appointment is midday on Monday, and I'm assuming that they will start off with the gel/pessary, judging by the leaflet I was given. I've no risk factors (just being 12 days over), so presuming they will do that and let me go home.
Do I take my hospital bag in with me, or just put it in the car?
Is it worth OH coming with me rather than going to work? We don't want to potentially waste days of OH's paternity leave if it's just a case of me going on, having the stuff done and then heading home...
Any advice?0 -
newthrift, well you did better than me with a high blood pressure reading getting you sent to the hospital - they wouldn't let me back out again!
firebird082, there is a risk that the pessary will push you into labour on its own, but its low. I'd have the hospital bags in the car but wouldn't bother bringing them in with you. If you have a separate postnatal bag with toiletries nightwear, day outfit etc that can be repurposed as an overnight bag if they keep you in. That's what we ended up doing. I would send OH to work; can always call if your waters break naturally or you are otherwise transferred to delivery early. Very unlikely though. My outcome was the first pessary worked and then I had fair warning of my transferral to delivery suite for waters broken. A warning - you may find the pessary causes pretty damn uncomfortable cramping so it may be easier to wander the hospital grounds than go home as you're unlikely to achieve much! Make sure you ask for pain relief if necessary - I asked and was immediately given some painkillers there at the correct dosage - much harder to do away from hospital as it's only paracetamol that a pharmacy will sell to a pregnant lady!Cleared my credit card debt of £7123.58 in a year using YNAB! Debt free date 04/12/2015.
Enjoying sending hundreds of pounds a month to savings rather than debt repayment!0 -
My hospital didn't allow you to go home if you were induced because 12 days over. We went in at 9am (we booked in by ringing at 8am when day shift came on and they said to come straight in). You may be given a pessary, but my understanding is that they may go straight for breaking your waters if it is possible. OH started his paternity leave that day, but it was one day less at the end so it's up to you. I was sent on a walk after my pessary and agree with snow that I had some pretty severe cramps and I started having contractions. You can have a second pessary after 6 hours (and I think a 3rd after another 6), although I didn't as I was having too many contractions, so I had a sweep at 6 hours and then they were able to break my waters after another 2.
I took my overnight bag and my labour bag in, but obviously I knew I'd be staying. I could have easily managed with just my labour bag. Make sure you pop a nappy and a baby gro in one of the bags and that way you don't have to rush to get baby's bag out the car.0 -
I would take your bag in and send OH to work on the basis he might need to leave if things progress. Good luck!0

Hmmm, thanks folks, bit of food for thought there. Think I'm going to go on with some questions before I agree to anything - I'm still a bit reluctant to kick start things unnecessarily...0

Hi ladies. I think I'm finally ready to join you, if that's okay? I remember quite a few of you from the old ttc thread (huge congrats to those who already have their baby!) which I was on in 2015/2016 until I had a break after a mc then an mmc. Thankfully, after being on the verge of starting IVF, I'm now about 6 month pregnant. It's our first and due right at the end of September.
It's all gone really smoothly so far and I've now got a good bump with a very active baby! My husband felt a good kick for the first time last night so it's starting to feel real for us both now.
Hope everyone is well xx0 -

Sorry for absence, have only been home this afternoon.
Induction then recovery after some haemorhage then checking Baby Harry was feeding well enough so an extra night in a side room just him and me.
Wasn't allowed home after propess. Just how our trust does it. Then waters broken- midwife had to get registrar to do it. Then a drip to speed things up as not much happening. Harry eventually born 1:26 sat am, with a cut to help as he was just starting to get distressed and I was tired... Cord round neck but all ok now.
Came home this afternoon0
