I'm in!!! i worked out that I'd managed to spend about £48 a week in June (target was £50):j this month, I'm aiming for £45 a week.
A strange thing happened yesterday: at the end of June & December we'll do a big stock-up shop (things like laundry detergent, wine & spirits, barbeque things, dried herbs / spices etc) and we've usually spent £150 on top of our weekly spend of £50-60! Friday we went through the house, made our list (three pages- hmmm). Shopping bill (including weekly shop) came to £75.90:D though I rounded it up to £80 by adding the difference to the christmas shop card). How did that happen???0 -
Wellllllll here goes. My first attempt at the GC. I cleared most of my cupboards out the other day so it really is a case of Old Mother Hubbard. In the freezer I have 5 packs of bacon,30 slices of black pudding, some ovenchips, peas and a cheesy pizza. So our menus this week are going to be a little monotonous!! I will give it my best shot. Starting tomorrow 2 July.0

Hi bindweed, looks like your going to have a few bacon sarnies this month lol. Or perhaps pasta dishes with bacon in, theres also chicken breast with blackpudding stuffing, sounds odd but REALLY nice. Chicken and bacon bagette for lunch at work, pea and ham soup? rice with ham and peas, I know I,ve seen a recipe for that in the past few days on old style, a bit of a risotto type dish, think it,s in the wartime thread. Good luck:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

That's spooky teedy23... we're having bacon pasta tomorrow night to use up the rest of a pack of cooking bacon that OH bought for breakfact slices when his parents were down. First time we had it we both thought 'what the heck give it a go', but we really quite like it now. Oh, that and bacon pieces stir fryApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500

Hi all,
I did my big shop yesterday at Tesco as I had a 700 point voucher if I spent £70 in store - I spent a total of £136.61!
I had to buy my Mum some supplies, (she lives in France and can't get HP, Bovril etc), and also bought some baby clothes for my baby boy. Total spent just on groceries = £108.46. Got 834 clubcard points too

Hi
Popped into the dreaded Mr T today as i needed to buy an onion and some eggs for my omellette. Guess what ...I overspent. Mind you they had medium chickens at half price so i brought 2 chickens (which will do 6 meals at least) for £3.78:T .

usually spend £200 + on food for two us. Allowed £160 for July. Stocked up on food for month and some meals in freezer so have £70 left just for fruit, veggies and milk. What on earth have I been doing with my money in the past? No food thrown out for two weeks now. I have become more aware of what I am buying and keep to list. £40 into my piggy bank for my portable tv with dvd. I have £80 now just from savings here and there. :j0

Hi,
I would like to try again this month to keep to a budget. We have 6 adult mouths to feed plus dog, cat and hens who are not providing us with eggs at present. Last month I just gave up towards the end because so many in the house were 'popping out ' to the shops with cash from the budget and totally overspent. This month if they want extras they can pay for them. I have well stocked freezers, staples cupboards and veg in the garden so most of budget will go on fresh foods, tins, toiletries and animal feed.
Oops just realised I need a budget. I am going to try for £320 again.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527
