I'm in!!! i worked out that I'd managed to spend about £48 a week in June (target was £50):j this month, I'm aiming for £45 a week.
A strange thing happened yesterday: at the end of June & December we'll do a big stock-up shop (things like laundry detergent, wine & spirits, barbeque things, dried herbs / spices etc) and we've usually spent £150 on top of our weekly spend of £50-60! Friday we went through the house, made our list (three pages- hmmm). Shopping bill (including weekly shop) came to £75.90:D though I rounded it up to £80 by adding the difference to the christmas shop card). How did that happen???DFW Nerd Club #545 Dealing With Our Debtnever attribute anything to malice which can be adequately explained by stupidity, [paranoia or ignorance] - ZTD&[cat]

I think I have no choice but to join this challenge.
We currently spend on average £75 per week on groceries.
This is just for myself, my fiance and a puppy!
We can't afford this really and we need to try and pull this down somehow!
For July I am setting a target of £50 per week.
This week we will be using meat from the freezer so there is no need to buy any meat and also we have enough toilet roll, washing powder and puppy food to omitt those.Dream of being mortgage free....

YM - I wondered if that meant I was OS, but didn't like to presume. I feel like I've got a LONG way to go yet! I'll be brave and confess that I'm aiming NOT to do a six-month big shop in December because I'll buy things as and when I need them / they're on offer and still within my budget!!!

Hi all. Im new here and would like to join the grocery challenge. We usually spend between £70 and £80 a week in tescos and the probably £20 in extras maybe more. So I am aiming for £ 300 for the month for2 adults, 1 teenager and 1 child. Feeding the teenager is my biggest challenge as he is a really fussy, total carnivore and I want to keep it healthy.
Any advice greaty appreciated.
Thanks

My spreadsheet for July is tight but having spoken to the rest of the family (OH, 11yr old and 13yr old plus cat) it should be do-able......
So we have £150 for July to cover all grocery, toiletry and cleaning shopping.....
Meal plans have been started, and shopping carefully carried out for the first week. Batch baking for the freezer begins in earnest later this afternoon and I am really determined that we should be able to do this.

my cupboards and freezer are quite well stocked ,my problem is Im not a very good cook and find it hard to use my imagination and just "throw together" a few tasy meals.0
