Just done my first shop of the month at Asda. £55.49. If I hadn't been weak and bought ice-cream (Hagan Daaz was on offer and I was shopping with my mum - bad combo!) and bought a magazine it would have been under £50. But start of month and all that - plenty of time to pull my socks up later - and Hagan Daaz at £2 a tub just can't be left there!!

Depends if you count Boots type stuff as groceries. I have a seperate category for them but would include in my grocery total anything I bought at a supermarket along those lines. But not anything in boots etc. I'd put it down as holiday spends if that what you were buying the stuff for.

If it,s specifically for hols then I would take from holiday spends. I used to buy toothpaste and brush every time I went away, but travel more often now so just take the one from house. Watch out for new security measures at airports due to recent events they may reinstate the no fluids thing.

I'd like to join in if that's OK.

Semi-retired a while back and just been spending as normal, despite reduced income! Fortunately we seemed to have had a "buffer" in the bank account but we seem to be coming to the end of that now    . So, I really have to get a grip on the spending!

Just done a quick calculation and I spend £370 on food in April - and there's only 2 of us and the dog!!!!! I'm afraid I always get tempted by something that looks delicious, even if I already have something in the fridge for the next meal, and often end up chucking stuff out.

So, I was a bit better in May, spent £230, but still think that's a bit much. I've been trying to be more sensible in June - I have spent £250 BUT I have been doing loads of batch cooking and stocked up both my freezers so, in theory, I shouldn't have to spend much this month.

I reckon I'll have to spend £100 on staples (loo rolls, bread, etc) so I'm going to try and manage the rest out of £100, total £200 for the month. Wish me luck!

Just me and the three mice as usual this month (although I will have another 20+ mice in just under 3 weeks  as my mice have mated) and I'm budgeting £40 again and I'm hoping I can do this. It includes my food, the mice food, sawdust for the mice, toiletries and the like. I'm not sure if I'll make it as the freezer and the fridge are starting to look bare :o oh well we'll see :rotfl:.
Three blind mice, see how they run. :rotfl:

I think I have got quite a bit in the freezer and got plenty in the pantry. Am going to make a list of everything tonight and then plan menu for the month. Use to do this all the time but stopped when we started up our business, working long hours and 7 day weeks. But the time has come to get back on track with everything now.

Well can’t wait to see how the month goes and am really excited to be joining in:T
Oh my God!!!!!! Good luck Seetpea! :cheesy:

luckly or not we are driving there south of france then on to spain for about 15 days altogether. so no airport restrictions.

Thanks Teedy23 & kj*daisy think i will take it out of holiday money.

Normally the 3 kids share the toothpaste but i bought them one each at £1.29p each  normally but the 89p one and it and lasts the 3 of them but its a long holiday and a treat for them and while in spain the kids are in different rooms so they will need there own.

Just a quick 'thank you' !
I took the first step = started making shopping lists and keeping records just to find out what I was spending.
I saved £70 (at least) on 'usual' month's spend and still have freezer full of food! Nobody noticed either!
Next step for July = maintain that saving with DD home from college and MiL on visit for a week.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
