I totally support your view. If nobody took any action these professionals would walk all over us. They already do. There are lots of good doctors and veterinary surgeons but it is is hard to take the bad once out the the system. Lets face it, there are always going to be the bad once in every profession but if the system allows them to practice we will suffer and more lives will be lost. Good for you for making that complaint. :T

This post is about Doctors and the NHS.

No-one mentioned Vets ?

From reading the OP's posts, the 2 things he's specifically complaining about are admin/support staff, not GPs and Consultants.

Turns out someone at GP practice 'forgot' to send it. Not the first time this has happened. In the past, consultant has sent a fax marked URGENT back to GP whos staff managed to put it in a pile for two weeks.

He may also be complaining about GPs & Consultants but hasn't detailed any specific complaints.

I still don't think it's acceptable but the OP seems to be ranting at the NHS generally when the people who've made the mistakes he's posted about probably won't have medical experience and are likely to be no different to people working in local government admin roles or in any office throughout the country.

But, meer, you are totally correct.
This thread is about issues with the health of humans, not pets.

Both medical professions, both impossible to make a complaint against.

You can keep on assuming this thread is not about my job.
;discussion/4892747]Never ceases to amaze me how useless the NHS is in this country. Constantly astounded by the amount of incompetence and laziness displayed by staff.

Have had a multitude of problems with GP over the years. Latest is wife has been waiting months to see a consultant - eventually she phoned and spoke to consultant secretary. No referral from GP. So shes been waiting months, in pain, for nothing.

Turns out someone at GP practice 'forgot' to send it. Not the first time this has happened. In the past, consultant has sent a fax marked URGENT back to GP whos staff managed to put it in a pile for two weeks.

Someone seriously needs to lose their jobs for this sort of behaviour....
I am interested in who told you it was not sent from the GP practice? Was it the practice themselves or the consultants secretary?

I only ask as knowing how the systems work, the consultants regularly state they have not received xyz when it was all sent in the same envelope...just saying.

Plus, I find it odd that with your wife being a Nurse she waited months before eventually following up her referral??

Please do not tar the entire NHS with the aren't they all crap line...yes I guess some staff are but more aren't.

I guess you will be one of the happy people when all we have is private healthcare...just like in other Countries, where the poor can't even get medical attention as they cannot afford it.

It's happened many times. Just sometimes the complaints are seen as unfounded.

I will. Better a health system we pay for than he shambles we have now. Poor would be no worse off because at the moment no-one gets good care.

Please stop generalising.

Enough people on this thread have said they have had decent, good and even excellent care from the NHS.
One poster has even said his complaint was dealt with satisfactorily (#13).

Just because you say you didn't doesn't make it a fact that 'no-one' does.

Have no experience about vets but it's certainly possible to make a successful complaint about the NHS.
It's someone else's fault.
