;64675840]US system would be better. All well and good having a free health service in the UK but, to be honest, its not up to scratch any more.
To be honest, it's your opinion that the NHS is not up to scratch anymore.
In my experience, I'd say the treatment I've had has been OK.
I'm sure there are people who will agree with you and I'm sure there will be people who agree with me.
Maybe try not to generalise too much.....?0 -
;64675852]EXACTLY. Amazing how many people think its wrong to complain about the good old nhs. Thats the problem we think its free so we can;t complain. Its not we pay tax for this.
I don't think it's wrong to complain about the NHS because it's free.
I think if you have had unsatisfactory service from any public body or company, you should complain.
Unemotionally, briefly, and to-the-point.
But you have given up on the complaints you say you have justification for.
If I had a valid complaint I wouldn't give up.
Maybe it's the way you have been complaining.....0 -
;64663442]Didnt say everyone.
Yes you did! You saidNever ceases to amaze me how useless the NHS is in this country. Constantly astounded by the amount of incompetence and laziness displayed by staff.
It isn't perfect, by any means; but I would say the vast majority of GPs and medical staff are hard-working, conscientious and excellent. I've had two stays in hospital in the last 10 years, both times with life-threatening illnesses, and will always be grateful for the care and dedication of the nurses and other staff.
Being a nurse must be one of the toughest jobs in the world - I know I couldn't do it.
Anyway, if your complaint to the practice manager doesn't get anywhere, you could always write to your MP...
Hope your wife gets better soon.0 -
For me, the NHS are wonderful, i've had nothing but fantastic care whenever i've had appointments or investigations. Same goes for my GP and the practice nurses. People in the UK should be thankful for the NHS. The alternative doesn't bear thinking about.
I have private medical insurance as part of my work contract but will only use it if an urgent situation arises.
OP, why did you wait "months" before contacting your GP again ? If i was in pain i'd be checking what was happening a bit more frequently than "months"

Was taken ill in the US in March and taken to hospital. Spent the first hour on a trolley in a corridor. Total bill for eight hours of tests and the ambulance trip $22,000 and completely covered by my insurance, so the equivalent of private treatment over here.
I had private treatment here for a major operation a few years ago and the whole experience was vastly superior to the US. My private treatment in the US was equivalent to what we all get here, so no it's not better. It's someone else's fault.0 -

The op is one of those usernames I've clocked in the past that IMO does over react when things don't go his way.0 -

Also no good for people who cannot afford health insurance and have to qualify for "Medicaid". No wonder Obama is trying to establish an American NHS...0 -
