12-24 weeks pregnant (part 3)

Hiya WTDN. I had my first one-to-one meeting today. Got me all properly excited for things to come! Mw was lovely, really friendly, explained everything they offer (free hypnobirthing classes, home visits/ injections/ anti-d, two mw at birth as each mw has a 'second' to assist so one for baby and one for you), got to listen to baby which is always magic- could hear the placenta as well (sounds like a wooshing noise). Super excited. Next appt is in 3/4 weeks so you see them much more frequently. No home birth hard sell (didn't matter for me as that's what I want) and she was normal- OH thought she might be a mad hippy. He's 100% behind home birth now as he didn't realise he'd be turfed out of hospital. Hope you enjoy your appt as much as I did!
For ladies wondering where uterus is at what stage (on average) at 12/13 weeks it's just peeping out over the pubic bone, at 16 weeks it's about 2 inches below belly button and at 19/20 weeks it's at your belly button.
T2D, i'm finding it harder to use my doppler at moment which freaks oh out no end. I think it's because there's more room in there for baby to wriggle away from me in. I also have a retroverted uterus so I think it sneaks more towards my back where I can't hear it as well.
Started an antenatal class last night. Lots of lovely stretches, breathing exercises and relaxation sessions- came home and slept like the dead! It's called lazy daisy, think they run everywhere if anyone likes the sound of it.
Peonie, I saw some bedding sets in asda the other day that looked like the fabrics you'd posted a while back- they reminded me of you and seemed really reasonably priced. They were for beds but I reckon with some sewing skills they'd easily become suitable for a cot.
Whoever recommended the local ebay app on here (think it was lilmiss) thank you very much! It's so much better to find 'big things' on! Currently watching a furniture set which ends tomorrow- will have a right mardy on If I don't win it!
Still got bump envy. OH says there's definitely a bump but am 5'7 and bmi was 30 when got bfp. Haven't appeared to gain any weight on my home scales but don't think I look preg yet. Is anyone else struggling with their appetite- I feel so full all the time that eating is uncomfortable. That said I too find it quite perturbing that my colleagues think my belly is now fair game for a poke/ rub... I'm not touchy feely at the best of times!
20 week scan next tuesday when I'll be 20+3. Eeeek!
Hope you're all doing well. And thanks for the aldi mention, will nip in tomorrow.0 -

I was prescribed Laxido - it's rank, couple of sips had me gagging so I've decided to go full hog on prunes to see if that helps and try to drink even more.0 -
I've got lactulose which is sweet, bit like glucose syrup, and it's only a 20ml dose morning and night, plus can have a drink afterwards to get rid of taste but 20ml is easy to swallow.
You could ask your dr for this?
Alternatively movicol is good but I hate the flavour and powdery texture as it's a big drink but I add vimto to it to ease the taste.0 -
A spoon of bran sprinkled on cereal can help too x0

grrr just lost my post! Laxido is the cheap version of movicol, may ask about lactulose but not sure how quickly I can do that given I've only tried one sachet so far.
I do add a spoonful of benefiber to a couple of drinks a day which has kept me regular for a couple of years but isn't cutting it any more.0 -
I've been shopping!!!!!
Mum was going to Aldi for me tomorrow to get some bits n bobs but since me and DH went to do a shop tonight I've told her to forget everything on the list apart from a changing mat (I can't get out of work to go as it's 15 miles away).
In Asda we got a cot quilt and bumper set - a Winnie the Pooh sets reduced from £45 to £25. I also got a Brite Start baby gym and bouncy chair that were £16 each down from £25 each.
Mum was also going to get me the Tommee Tippee micro steriliser and bottles but after seeing it in Asda I don't think our micro is big enough, and after pricing everything individually I've been on Kiddicare and got the Closer to Nature Starter Kit for £64.99 inc free delivery (rrp £100). Oh, and a cot bed mattress too for £25 at half price. I am planning to feed myself but the sort will come in handy for hubby's turn....just need a pump now!No longer ...tobe! Lemon tree try adding a strong un diluted juice to it, it does help
Mrs c it's the best feeling in the world isn't it! To be buying for your baby and get lovely things, esp when they are a bargain!
I'm wide awake my oh has been snoring all night I swear he wants me to kill him. I can't cope with it and when the baby comes between him snoring and baby crying I'm going to be a wreck. I've told him he needs to get to the dr or something. Problem is he broke his nose when he was younger and it never set properly, so he can't breathe out of it, but he won't have surgery to correct it. As a result breathing out of his mouth, he very often snores and I'm the worlds lightest sleeper! Grrrrrrrr!0 -
Hi tcod - yes it was me about the ebay app. Great isn't it?
SO jealous of bump photos. I am 15+3 and strongly suspect the bump I can see is 90% wind still! I just googled that my BMI was 24.5 at my booking in appointment. I can feel where my uterus is so thanks to tcod for confirming that's what I feel.
I am off to Barcelona with a friend for a long weekend today. DH has been experiencing sleepless nights about letting his wife and child out of his sight (booked it before getting pg)/ Have introduced him to the world of whatsapp.
Hilariously (kind of) am starting to have to put clothes to one side as I know I'll not fit in them this year and they are summer clothes so no go until next year if I'm lucky. I am taking dresses and maternity leggings, as well as one pair of normal trousers that were obviously a bit baggy before. MrsC I was also doing the 5:2 pre pg but stopped so luckily this means all my clothes have had some wiggle room for a massively bloated tummy. Exciting shopping news!
monty-doggy - I feel your pain. DH snored from the day I met him until January this year. We went on the British snoring and sleep apnoea website to discover he has a nasal drip (bleugh) and he has to spray this stuff in the morning and before bed. Cured in about 48 hours. However, you already know why he snores and he already says he won't do anything about it so not sure that applies or is helpful.

It's not that he won't do anything, he just won't have an op on his nose! I'm going to drag him to the dr though!
Have a lovely weekend!0
