I'm not getting a Doppler because I think I'd become obsessed and end up at hospital if I couldn't find the heartbeat and it would drive me bonkers!

Yes this could well be me lol. I am hoping as the MW found the baby so easily that I will too though. Although I am sure her doppler is better!

Afternoon ladies, and welcome Alioops.

Lovely scan today. Just a really quick one to check cervical length, but they show us the baby too. Baby was very active and looking perfect, and she said 'much bigger' although no measurements. DH was with me and he got to see a lot more as he was facing the screen. I got a quick look, with far too much time spent looking at the cervix IMHO! Anyway, very reassuring to see bub kicking around in there.

Another scan at 19 weeks. I am spoilt for scans!

I might give my doppler another go. Haven't heard anything so far but it's got to work eventually.

I weighed myself this morning with some trepidation to find that I am exactly the same weight as I was before holiday. It means I have still gained 4-5lbs so far this pregnancy (4.8 if I am very accurate!) which I am pretty happy with. One of my books says you should have gained around 5-10 lbs by 17 weeks so it sounds right to me, as I was a whale already when starting so I need to gain the lower amounts. Hope it continues! (she says, having just eaten TWO chocolate bars )

I can't remember who said it, but I am totally finding it weird that people feel able to comment on my body/figure now I am pregnant, particularly as someone who has always been self conscious about my weight. I absolutely love my colleagues and they are friends as well but there were a few comments that made me feel uncomfortable today...one girl bounded in to the office, and before even saying hello to me said 'have you got a bump yet?!' Then another lady said she had been wondering whether I would be showing now after two weeks away and proceeded to examine me, commenting on how I seem to be bigger 'all round' and don't have a 'Christmas pudding' bump yet. Then she speculated that it might be a girl as she carried her sons right out at the front but her daughter more all the way around, and her granddaughter was also an 'all around' bump! I felt like saying 'I don't think it has anything to do with what the baby is....I think it is just because I was FAT to begin with!'

I am off to my mum's now as my brother is home from uni (with a new girlfriend! :eek:) I haven't seen my mum for a month as before we were on holiday they were, so I will be interested to see if she notices any difference.

I had my MW appointment today. It was very quick but I heard the heart beat. She found it just above the hair line. So what's in the rest of the bump? I'm happy sweet pea is still there. Unfortunately it was overshadowed by some carp going on at work. I spoke to my union rep and it seems to be sorted now - thank goodness.

for some reason I'm really starting to worry about my 20 week scan, just under 2 weeks to go. funnily I didn't worry at all about the 12 week one, not sure what's going on with me.
maybe I'm just paranoid because I've really been suffering from constipation and have finally been given stuff from the doctor which I tried to take last night but it just made me feel so dire with the taste.
