I've still not taken the plunge and moved on to the next thread even though I'm 27 weeks. There be dragons out there!
  • It's hard to know what to do though isn't it cos I know they say dramatically increased movements can be a warning sign too :-/ I have a count the kicks wrist band I'm using to keep track and a little note book where I keep notes about when I've felt movement. What app are you using? I have another scan with my consultant on Monday so I'll hopefully get some reassurance then that everything is as it should me. I know she said last time I can't expect a routine until around 28 weeks so I try not to panic if baby doesn't follow the little routine she seems to have. I think it does depend what I'm doing too, for example I do feel her when I'm sat at my desk at work but if I'm out shopping or cleaning at home I don't feel anything. I guess it's just another stage in spending the rest of our lives worrying about children!
Congrats for moving on up to the big girls thread :T

I'm using two apps actually as I'm trying to work out which one I like better. I use the Count the Kicks app after dinner, but I really don't like the format and it doesn't seem very user friendly. That one counts how many kicks you feel in 10 minutes, although I've just realised you can change the time limit so perhaps if I increase it I'll get a better overall picture. Apparently it can create graphs and charts and will also alert you if there is a difference to your average kicks but I've not explored it enough really.
I'm also using the built in kick counter on my Pregnancy+ app. It doesn't produce a graph, chart or averages as supposedly the CTK one does but it counts the time it takes to feel 10 kicks, and if you've not felt 10 in 2 hours then it advises you to call a midwife. This one just seems a bit easier to use so after a while I'll probably just use this one, but the CTK website says that we shouldn't use the count to 10 method now as not all women would feel 10 movements in an hour, and even if 10 movements are felt it could still indicate a problem! So much advice out there it is hard to know what is best, I guess only we as mothers will know based on our gut instincts.

I've been hunting around for others but no luck, so if anyone else has any recommendations of apps or ways of tracking movements then I'd love to hear them!
  • I would be interested in an app for twins in anyone finds one. If I use the others I can get to 10 kicks in a short time but that's both of them kicking and the next time it's just one and seems to think there is a problem.

I don't know how realistic it would be to find one for twins cause I can distinguish which one is kicking etc.

I'm one of the ones that if I only felt 10 movements in an hour it would be a major problem. Mine will get 10 movements in about 2 minutes! Little one is only ever quiet for about 1/2 an hour at a time too.

I never would have thought of that Carrot! Of course, how on earth can you tell which twin it is?! Can you tell which one it is?

Mrs_T_M - sounds like you have a very active baby! Although you are also further ahead than we are too so perhaps you feel it more as its kicks are now stronger? I notice mine more when I am sat or laid down and it seems to go on throughout the day intermittently, but I don't always notice when I'm up on my feet at work.

I can usually tell which twin is moving because one is on the right and one is on the left. If the movements are more in the middle it's trickier to tell! I do wonder how easy it would be to tell if one had reduced movements.
  • I've been looking at apps after catching up on the thread. I've not really noticed an obvious pattern to movements, had a few kicks but mainly it feels like baby is turning round rather than kicking. I can't monitor kicks using an app while I'm in work so guess thats not really going to work for me, but I'll try to pay more attention to a pattern.
  • Princess Kate - I've been thinking of getting a "Kick Counter Wristband" (http://www.countthekicks.org.uk/product/kick-counter-wristband/) as I don't have a smartphone! They come in different colours!

When did everyone 1st feel the baby move? What does it feel like? It is my first pregnancy and I have no idea what to expect. Midwife said I should start to feel it in a couple of weeks but that I probably won't recognise it until later.

This is my first and I've only just started feeling baby this last week. And I'm 22 weeks. I didn't have any flutterings and butterfly movements. Or if I did, I didn't notice them. This week I've noticed daily the baby kicking. Feels like it's come from nowhere as I didn't feel much before hand. I Haven't been tracking the movement. Too early days and there will be no pattern this early so a bit pointless.
  • I have got one of those bands, well I actually have 2 as I bought one & my friend bought me another. I got a bit confused about how to use it tho as the site says counting 10 kicks isn't recommended now & so I'm not sure what I'd be counting or over what time frame, if thatmakes sense.
