  • Tia good luck with maternity clothes shopping!

Daisie - I've always read it as Daisie GG. Thought the GG might be your initials.

    View, welcome to the board.

My update - went to Mothercare today to see what we might need for the new LO. This is my first child and I feel so overwhelmed by how much we might need, without actually knowing what we will really need. I shall start making a list soon.

Also, had a lovely moment with OH this morning. Bought him a 'From the Bump' Father's Day card and he was genuinely touched and surprised. His family have never done the Mother's Day or Father's Day thing, so it was lovely to surprise him.

  • Have to side with t2D on this... Thought it was daisi egg and that maybe you just really liked eggs? :rotfl: obviously totes wrong on that one! :) I blame the fact that i'm terrible at scrabble and countdown!

Have come away for a few days to my uncles caravan. It was free (how mse!) and hopefully the weather is going to be nice whilst we're here. Going to go to the lake district for a nice walk (maybe windermere- if anyone has any recommendations for cheap and cheerful things to do? I've only ever been to conniston in the lakes...), lancaster, and probably blackpool for a bit of seaside tat (no rides for me though *sadface*...

Anyone know if you can ride a bike at 27 weeks?

Rmr- it's very overwhelming looking at all of the things you might need! I had an absolute heartattack when I realised how much everything was! A friend who runs a baby shop gave me the best advice- think of the essentials- somewhere for baby to sleep (moses basket/ crib/ cotbed), however you're going to transport baby (sling/ pram/ car seat etc.), how you're going to feed baby (bf? Don't buy anything, ff? Steriliser, formula, a couple of different bottles as apparently some babies are fussy when it comes to bottles so no point in buying loads of one brand if they hate it) and a couple of different sizes of clothes and nappies. From there on you can start adding things in and starting to stockpile (toiletries, nappies- if you're using disposables etc.). As I was on a tight (non-existant) budget most of the things i've bought are secondhand- through the mse local ebay app, ebay, gumtree and preloved. I have to admit most of the secondhand things I've bought have been in pristine condition so even if you're not on a budget it's still something to consider as newborns don't seem to wear things out! :) only things i haven't bought secondhand are matresses for moses basket & cotbed and the car seat (got it as part of pram package and didn't want to buy car seat secondhand). :)

Runmichellerun - there is a good post on moneysaving mums about good things to buy. The thing is some people find something great and others useless so a bit of a minefield !

Edit : good advise from your friend teaandcake

tcod - the main barrier I am aware of for bike riding will be your balance. your centre of gravity will likely have changed.

RMR - someone sent me comprehensive/epic list. I'll post the link. Don't feel it is prescriptive! I've used it as a list to see what I might need that i've not thought of and if I don't know what it is or disagree it has not been bought. Also it is surprising the number of things people are willing to pass on. Babies grow so quickly it is in very good nick.

A big up to the mse ebay app - it lets you search by collection area so you can get big items very cheaply. My cheapest buy was the dream genii pillow for 1p! Think a lot of families sell in school holidays when they are around to sort stuff out.

Ta da! It is post #1969 on page 99 of this thread.

Lilmiss, I echo the lovely bump comments.

Hi view, welcome to the mad house!

Tia and wend, thanks re the travels, it's another holiday (we had to move last weeks one from October for obvious reasons and last week happened to be the only time we could go, the week before our annual travels)

Daisie, we had someone ask on facebook if we knew what caused it......my reply was 'wine, I think wine caused it'. On my part anyway as hubby doesn't drink!!!

My fat feet are so fat tonight I managed to shut one of them in the front door! That's the one that's not usually quite so fat but it's fattest now!!! Currently sitting with them up whilst hubby is supposed to be packing for tomorrow but instead is watching football. I want to go to bed but his stuff is all over the blimmin place!!!!

Morning! Hope we all slept well. I certainly did, was the best sleep I've had in over a week. At least I know the hotel bed I will be in tonight is a comfy one as we got the same room as last year. It's also the first time in 10 days I've woken up and actually been able to see that I've got bones in my feet. I'm sure it will be the last time for a week too!

Does anyone know if we're allowed to sit in exit seats on the plane? The online check in has put me on them which would be great for extra space but not great if they move me!

I know they won't let you with kids but not sure about being pregnant.
