Hi Ladies, had my 12 weeks scan yesterday and everything went well so looks like I will be joining you.

You ladies on this thread certainly do chat lots (have been secretly stalking!) so hope to join in with everything as time goes on

Daisie the threads also cover lengthening periods of time. So I think when you start its more intimidating! I mean in the <12 weeks you are only there a maximum of 8 weeks, then 12 weeks here and up to 16-18 weeks on the next one! All too scary. But we are big girls. :)

I don't actually really understand why this thread stops at 24 weeks mind you. Until I was pregnant and read otherwise I actually thought 24 weeks must mark the start of the third trimester, purely from seeing the dates on these threads! In my mind it would make more sense for the threads to be based on trimesters. But that is possibly because I would then get to hang around here longer....

Oh, exciting times, my mum came round for a cup of tea after work (conveniently I live directly on he route home from work) and she felt baby girl kick for the first time! :) hubby has been feeling it for a while but no one else had yet. I did make a big mistake though and accidentally called the baby by name in front of my mum. Hubby would be furious if he knew as we had sworn not to tell anyone the name we have picked. It just slipped out when I was talking to the baby telling her to kick! Mum promised not to say anything and she likes the name anyway. I think I can trust her not to say anything. It doesn't bother me too much as it is a very non controversial name but for some reason hubby really wanted to keep it between us so I must respect that. Not much else is being kept 'just us' during this pregnancy really.

Another bleed another 6 hour visit to the hospital :(

It seems my placenta is still previa :( more bloods taken too... I did see a really nice doctor who drew me a picture & explained that the blood I loose is mine & doesn't affect the baby at all explained where it comes from & how the placenta works & my blood & babies doesn't mix..... The down side is that worst case scenario I can potentially bleed to death :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I was finally allowed home due to the fact that we are only a 10 minute drive from the hospital :o

    Back on rest instructions ...........................:(:(:(:(

Tinkwings it is strange how different hospitals can be. Mine were really casual about my placenta previa even though I was bleeding constantly for a few weeks, I never had to keep going back or anything after the first time I went in with it and was not told I could bleed to death (that sounds a bit dramatic from what I have read about it!) and wasn't even told to rest or anything! They really were not worried about it and said it is normal to bleed with placenta previa and it posed no risk to me or baby! I didn't have to go back after the bleeding started and they told me I could potentially bleed all the time and it was no worry and I did not have to go back. Weird!

Try not to worry. Remind me how many weeks you are now? Remember I told you mine had already moved by 20 weeks (though now I bleed for different reasons but it is unconnected lol!) and a hugely high percentage of women have it move, so I really think and hope you will be fine xx of course I know the stress and even though my hospital were really casual about it I hated to bleed and I worried too, so it is very understandable! But try not to fret too much, baby is absolutely fine xx

Is consultant because of the placenta or were you consultant led anyway? 16 weeks is still really early you have loads of time for it to move and maybe you will be lucky and it will move soon like mine did :) my worst weeks were from 17-19 when I bled constantly and then at 20 weeks it had moved already! The sonographer I saw said it is very, very common for people to have placenta previa early in the second trimester and it is only because of earlier scans that we know about it - it used to just not even be picked up on. I know none of this is comforting as I felt exactly the same as you when I was in that position, sorry cxx
  • Sorry to hear that tinkwings :(

Daisiegg - agree, it's not a private club with bouncers! On my lurking I've seen (as you must have) people in different threads at different times. It's about the chicks you hang with not the exact week. Shared understanding. Nice to be vaguely at the same stage but we all know the actual little one could turn up at any old point! I'm 22 weeks and could safely give birth before you in the future! I'm being selfish anyway...don't leave me everyone! Think there is a big exodus where we all move up within a fortnight of each other.
