We use Flip nappies with DS1 and have been very happy with them. They're also much cheaper than many of the alternatives! 8 outers and 21 inners, plus 21 bamboo boosters lasts about 3 days between washes. Only problem right now is thanks to the building work we have no washing machine, so we're back on disposables because while my Dad is doing the washing for us, I don't really feel we can send a bucketful of smelly nappies his way too! We wouldn't manage without a tumble dryer in winter though.

Edited to add: we still used a disposable nappy overnight and just used washables during the day. Washables that we had seemed slightly less absorbent and were bulkier than disposables. Fine in the day, but we quite like getting 14 hours of overnight use from one nappy :) A different brand may work better overnight than the Flips. This only applies now DS has stopped doing overnight poos of course - we wouldn't knowingly leave him in a poo nappy for half the night.

Oh, I have the bamboo breast pads too. They were very good once my milk supply had calmed down, but would suggest disposable ones for the first few weeks.

Also make sure you put them in a laundry bag. I couldn't work out where mine were disappearing to, and then they all turned up in the washing machine pipes. Most survived the experience!
  • Hi, Just found this and posted in the PG thread but thought maybe put it here too. I'm not sure, I've never moved out of the less than 12 week thread. Maybe one day :)http://couponcrazycatlady.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/baby-freebies.html

Well I have reached 24 weeks! And just to celebrate, I spent this morning vomiting :rotfl: am spotting again but only lightly and am not too worried.

24 weeks feels like a big milestone for some reason.

I suppose I should think about moving to the big thread but I am SCARED! I feel like I 'know' lots of you ladies and we have lots of chat and ranting and support. I'm sure everyone there is lovely too but they have more important things to talk about...like imminent childbirth!

I might do as a few others have done and keep a foot in both camps for a while...at least until there are a couple more of us ready to come up? :o

Re re-usuable nappies: this site was recommended to me and under nappy info and tips there are some demo videos. Not played them myself but might be of interest.

Wendy is Brill and so helpful. I will be digging my reusables out. I loved them...i may need to add to my collection.
Also only buying 2 or three probably won't help, maybe hire one of the nappy lady kits. Fill in her questionaire and she will reccomend nappies for you.

I also have a condition where I have palpitations. I take medication but I developed a second type of palpitation in my last pregnancy which no medication controls. I wasn't allowed a home birth or water birth (in case they couldn't get me out the pool). My lo was delivered by a midwife but I know she called my consultant just in case :). I was fine.

Sorry not had time to reply to all the posts. I am still ill and so exhausted. Lo also had an accident and so we have had trips to the hospital and Drs.

Will try and reply later again.

24wks is a big milestone your baby is now viable and should anything happen meaning an early delivery there is a good chance of survival- that was suppose to be positive n supportive rather than worry u I hope.

Thank you, yes I know :) I am probably silly but I didn't want to say it for fear of worrying ladies who aren't 24 weeks yet. Probably overthinking things! But it is good to know. I hope she stays in there for quite a bit longer though mind you!

6 days and I'll join you Daisie. And the IVF trio are all about to move too. I can't wait really, as I know you lot will all be coming with me. :)

Maybe we can even convince tcod to take the plunge too. ;)

Just checking in quickly. We are having such a lovely time & eating far too much! Still struggling with exhaustion but getting lots of rest in between sightseeing and stuffing our faces. Haven't read back very far but hope everyone is doing ok.

Daisie, congrats on 24 weeks, it really is a milestone! Seems a long way away for me still.

    Hugs to all :)

Daisie the threads also cover lengthening periods of time. So I think when you start its more intimidating! I mean in the <12 weeks you are only there a maximum of 8 weeks, then 12 weeks here and up to 16-18 weeks on the next one! All too scary. But we are big girls. :)
