Alioops, not tried the insurance as yet, we're using the travel insurance through hubby's bank so he will have to phone up about it.

TCD, it's First Choice.....I'm still waiting on that phone call! I'll be on the holiday boards just shortly....

SewIt, that had also crossed my mind but would need to find another adult for the booking and there's no rooms left at the hotel :(

oh my goodness, what happens when I don't have time to read on here properly for a few days and I have pages and pages to catch up on! So excuse me while I catch up, if any of my replies are out of date....

We had our 20 week scan today. Last night I was so excited I hardly slept. The baby is well. No problems seen. Thankfully there was a second screen for me to look it. We decided not to find out the sex although part of me is still convinced it's a boy. The baby was kicking my bladder but I could not feel it, probably as my placenta is at the front, and he/she was waving around their little arms.

I don't think I can wait another 20 weeks until I see the baby so may just have to book a private scan at 30 weeks.

Scan went well today. Everything looking normal, but she said the baby was too curled up and she couldn't get a good view of the heart and the arms as they were tucked in. So back again next week when the baby is a big bigger.

I think it's a polite way of saying - too fat - try again later! The baby was up really high. She was scanning from above my belly button which really surprised me. She tried to scan from below but also said there is too much scar tissue from all my operations to get a view from that side, so they can only really look from the top. My BMI at the start was 31, so I don't think too bad, but I must have a very soft belly.

However, she could see the important bits, and confirmed its a boy. :j:jTime for some more team blues! I'm only telling you ladies, as I can't keep it to myself any longer. We are really pleased, I mean we would be either way of course, but somehow a boy seems perfect.

Congrats on good scans T2D & Peonie :) Erm, Peonie don't pay too much attention to what you're convinced it is....

with herself, she's wobbly but refuses to lay down and give into the tiredness, so watching her from a distance (but not too far away) to check she's ok. I know it's the best thing in the long run and she'll be almost back to normal by tomorrow but I do feel so sorry for her.

Aww hope your fur baby is feeling better by now Laila xx

Oh and congrats Lilmiss! Don't know how I missed that!
Thanks! It's funny we were both convinced it was a girl (SEE PEONIE!!!), although I had no idea I thought anything until they said it was a boy and I thought 'gosh, really I thought it was a girl!' Before the scan me and DH agreed if it's a girl he does first hold and if a boy I get first hold!

For those 20 weeks plus - when and from whom did you get your Mat B1 form? Am I right in thinking I need to get it in to my emplyer before 25 weeks? I am currently 19+4 and my next appt is a GP one at 25 weeks so assume I need to see someone before then.

Got mine today at my 20 week scan (though i'm 21 wks tom)
That's a 12 week gap between mw appointments! Not even been to GP as pg woman yet as confirmed pg at walk in centre as too excited to wait..

12 wks? That seems a ridiculously long time between appointments x

Oh, and I've really started to feel the baby move. Yay.

    Yay! It's amazing isn't it? I love it :)
Hmmm not even thought about a naming day. My friend did hers at the same time as the first bday.

This is what I'm thinking of doing. Me and OH are 100% atheist and could not do a Christening. Would be nice to do the same things on the same day, would be something to look forward to next year - esp as we have now officially decided to postpone the wedding :( It was getting too stressful planning for baby and nuptials so wedding it is in 2016. Plus we have changed our medium sized plans to very, very small wedding plans... priorities have deffo changed now. Might need the money for this or future kids! (fingers crossed!)
The other thing we found useful at first was just a cloth apron to wear during nappy changes. DS could send a jet of liquid poo horizontally for over 3 feet (that's the distance to the bathroom wall) during a nappy change. Saved a lot of changes of clothing!

    Jesus Christ!

WTDN - how was you scan?
    Daisie - any more news?
Mrs C - what age is a child these days? It's crazy that is he not allowed to share with you. If you don't mind why should they. Esp if they still get the money for an adult.

Should really move over to the big thread now- 24 weeks today but will prob just hang around here for a bit longer. Big thread seems very real somehow! :rotfl:

can't believe it! Time has gone so quick!!

TCOD, it's because on that thread people have BABIES. Far too freaky to think about.. ;)

Our little IVF trio will follow you soon enough.

WTDN and Peonie - do you realise how lucky we are? It breaks my heart to see so many cycles on the TTC threads with so little success recently. There were 4-5 cycles on the list just the other day and I think they have all failed. So very sad.

Yes, we are so, so lucky. I have been following and can't believe that there has been no good news. It is gutting. I try not to take it for granted every single day. My heart goes out to those girls.

    Welcome Star :hello:

For those that are married and have taken husbands name, have you considered using your maiden name as a middle name? I'm quite keen not to let my name totally drift away, and the word is non-sex specific, but I'm not sure if it's a bit strange. Thoughts?

By the way, I love Natalina as a name. It's unusual and new, without being too wacky and random. Do you know that Nevaeh is becoming a popular name apparently in the US. It's heaven spelt backwards... I must admit I think it's very strange!

Yes, I'm thinking of keeping my maiden name as a second middle name for me, and also having it as a second middle name for bubs. Just so it's there, somewhere, officially. Even if it never gets mentioned or used ever. Just don't want it to disappear!

Had our scan today. Was 100% convinced we were having a boy but have been proven wrong, and just can't get my head round it!

So glad we know though, and everything looks OK, although we have to go back for another scan on Monday as the little madam would not budge from right down low in my pelvis, and they couldn't get all the measurements needed.
  • CONGRATULATIONS WTDN!

How funny you were convinced boy and are pink while I unknowingly thought pink and am blue.

    So glad all was well

  • Daisiegg - how stressful. Hopefully you are/have been seen by someone and got some answers.

MrsC how rotten - if it goes nowhere is it worth writing to a newspaper? Sometimes they can get you the money no one else can. We did this in a probate case and it worked.

Alioops - the waiting part sucks. My mum said she sometimes wished she was like a washing machine and could just look inside the little window to check all was right.

Freebiequeenie - hope the two weeks is enough to get better.

Apologies for owt else I forgot. V tired after stupid disturbed night plus DH in his ADHD way has made an impulse decision that has far reaching consequences. Off to try to help fix it.
