12-24 weeks pregnant (part 3)

Congrats on the scan results t2d and lilmiss. I'm SO tempted to find out! It's driving me mad! I think boy, oh thinks girl. In my head i can almost justify the cost of a gender scan as being mse as then I'll be able to buy clothes bundles for pennies on the ebay app thing! The neutral/ unisex stuff is a bit boring and goes for way more than the boy/ girl bundles. But then I want something to keep me going during labour... Argh!
Had to decide how much mat leave will be taking today. Have decided to take 50 weeks with last two as annual leave. Have also decided that last day in work will be August bank holiday- means there won't be a fuss as there's only going to be 5 of us in which I prefer! It gives me 2 and a half weeks to settle into being off and get everything ready. Have to go back but will use some of accrued annual leave to reduce working weeks for a couple of months I think. Spoke to oh about it and asked if he'd be happy to go on teaching assistant agency to pick up a couple of shifts a week to keep us ticking over and got the most non- commital 'suppose i've got to' response I could imagine. Nearly screamed in his face but have restrained self.
I can't believe some of you are thinking about christmas! I'm definitely a last minute lil- usually begrudgingly buy my presents on christmas eve. It'll be a family christmas at my mums for us so hopefully she won't rope me into the kitchen. I won't be buying baby any presents though- at 3 months old I don't see the point as it just won't have a clue. I'll buy it some sort of fancy dress christmas pudding outfit though- it'll keep me amused and make for some lovely embarassing pics for the future.
Hope you're all ok and have nice plans for the weekend!0 -
CONGRATULATIONS LILMISS!
Sorry, it was me that started the Christmas talkit was only because I accidentally watched a TV Christmas special episode today. I am not actually mental!
I too will be dressing baby girl in a variety of ridiculous Christmas themed outfits. We do have a Christmas present for her - a baby gym thing that we would probably want for her at that age anyway, which was £16 instead of £50 something in the Asda baby event
Anyone got any nice plans this weekend? I will mostly just be hanging round the house. Hubby is away and the decorator will be here doing baby girl's room so I can't really go out. Sister is here too but she will be studying dawn til night. I have some kitchen cupboards that sorely need sorting out and at some point I need to tackle my 'pantry' of food and drink in the garage...since being preggers hubby has been putting things away in there as it is usually cans/bottles/heavy things that he doesn't want me to lift, but he has entirely messed up my system and it is a giant chaotic jumble!

Thinking about Christmas! I've practically got it sorted! All gifts for my side oft he family for Christmas and birthday until the end of January at least will be bought before sproglet arrives then that way if/when I get any visitors from them they can take them back down the road. Otherwise everyone will have to wait until they're up or I'm down (I won't be down until possibly January but more likely March). Pretty easy some of them to get, if not predicable! I have 7 nieces and nephews and they all either get pjs, something for their hols for the following year, or vouchers to put towards something else. I've given up using my imagination with them as I always get it wrong in their parents eyes even if the kids love them! The only adults I get for now are parents which are easy to sort, and grandparents, I have two left and they both get interflora baskets of plants which they love. Simples! Hubby gets left to sort out his side so that will be done sometime in December.....typical male! LolNo longer ...tobe! Daisie, is it the bright starts gym? We got that one in the event in the blues and stuff as I thought it was quite unisex in comparison to the girly pink one so was a good choice for us. Also got the bouncy chair aswell.
This weekend I'm on call but need to risk a city run tomorrow to Inverness to return a dress I got for the hols which really is not a good look just now! Will also have a mooch around there to see if there's anything else I fancy.
Another risk tomorrow night as I'm out partying....I'm a consultant for a leading candle company and have a party scheduled so hoping it's a good one aswell. Chill out day for me on Sunday if I can get out of giving the bathroom a second coat, it's the last thing that needs doing and it's totally finished and after a good clean will be back in action!

Woohoo Lilmissreading. Go Team Blue today!
Can't believe we are talking about Christmas! Although Daisie you have reminded me that I have a social obligation to buy an embarrassing outfit for the baby to use at 21st birthday parties. I'll add it to the list.
Actually this might be a difficult one. I LOVE have big parties at home and we used to have a big party a few weeks before for all my aussie and ex-pat friends. I think it was up to 30 people, and now they have all left! I think we'd struggle to get 6 over for dinner now.
Maybe I'll suggest we have all of DH's family over, but I suspect DH won't be too keen on that. Maybe he can be convinced as we will be away for a long time from next year. Otherwise maybe a trip to Ireland would be an idea. Anyway, will face that when we are closer. It is amazing to imagine it all going on with a tiny baby!0 -

Thanks! It's funny we were both convinced it was a girl, although I had no idea I thought anything until they said it was a boy and I thought 'gosh, really I thought it was a girl!' Before the scan me and DH agreed if it's a girl he does first hold and if a boy I get first hold.
We are having Christmas at my mother's - it is a 40 min drive away. She did say they would come and host at ours but bring food. DH and I reckon it's easier to go and be hosted - I probably won't be drinking still or only a small glass with lunch, so it'll be easier to go and fade away then have everyone here and not be able to shift them before being left with all the wrapping paper and full bins. I am already thinking Christmas shopping. If my plan works I want most bought and wrapped by end of September!
For those 20 weeks plus - when and from whom did you get your Mat B1 form? Am I right in thinking I need to get it in to my emplyer before 25 weeks? I am currently 19+4 and my next appt is a GP one at 25 weeks so assume I need to see someone before then.
Laila - thanks for heads up. Luckily it was cold and rainy and only about 10 mins over.
:rotfl: I spent last week re-arranging all the things DH had put away seemingly with his eyes shut - living the dream!
We are off yoga tomorrow and birthing partners are expected to go so me and DH not sure what to expect. Some work friends are coming over in the evening. We have lunch with his parents on Sunday in the pub and Monday carrying on sorting the houseMet DH to be 2010

I have deliberately booked my 25 week appointment for when I will be 24+1 (the +1 is just because that is when it works out for the day the midwife is at the surgery) in the hopes that I can get my MatB1 form then, in order to give it to work by 25 weeks.
I have heard other people saying that you can ring the GP and get them to issue it though, not sure if that is true or not but maybe worth a try.0 -
Lilmiss I got my MATB1 today from my midwife - that was my 22wk appt, do you not get one with your midwife then?Baby on board - EDD 29th Sept0
