Lemontree I completely understand how you feel about having a cry at work, I feel rather silly now too.

Daisiegg, I am sure things are all ok and just as they told you. Lol at him giving you the free pics and you thinking it is so you do not report him :)

Unfortunately, I am here back at work! I emailed my boss first thing and asked for a word regarding Wednesday. He got back to me saying he will be free at 2.30! Even though he is not in meetings or anything. He has since had to talk to me about work stuff which was awkward!

I have decided (at the advice of my mother who is an Equality Officer for Unite Union) to record the events and ask certain questions on his decisions/ lack of risk assessment and have something for my file, whilst making clear I do not wish to take it any further. Just in case anything happens in the future. I have literally just bashed out some sort of document at my desk and I have no idea how these things work.... I might copy it for you to look at and advise...

Here is the letter, I am not great at writing lol so would appreciate any pointers. Doe's it sound too formal, too whiny or anything? I am also not sure how to finish the end with me signing it...

    16th May 2014

Following the events that took place Wednesday 14th May 2014, I have requested this meeting to discuss the decisions made surrounding the events and how I feel I have been discriminated against due to pregnancy.

    Outline of events:
On 10th April I volunteered to attend an annual trade show at *****. The role at the show would include meeting and greeting customers and offering refreshments for two days, requiring an overnight stay. My employer was aware I was an expectant mother at the time of me volunteering to attend.

I had attended the trade show three years previously and had a full knowledge and experience of the requirements of the role.

In the lead up to the 14th May I was asked on 3-4 occasions by *boss* if I felt well enough to attend due to my pregnancy. As I knew what to expect at the show and having not experienced any complications and feelings of illness so far in the pregnancy, I decided I would be fit to attend.

I liaised with *boss* at around 21:00 on Tuesday 13th May via text message regarding the travel arrangements for Wednesday. At no point during that communication was any concern or risk raised to me.

I arrived at work early on Wednesday with the intention to make my way to the show at 08.:00 with a colleague. At 07:56 I received a text message from *Boss* that read as follows:

‘Hi Jenna, *colleague1* and *colleague2* I have been thinking a long time about your situation (jenna) and you with your wee child. I think it would best if you stayed in the office and *colleague1* and *colleague2* came over to the show. Hope u understand Jenna. it is really hard work on your feet all I lost a child from ex wife working on ITU for longer than she should of. Hope u understand.’

The text was originally sent at 01:33 to my work email address, *colleague1* and *colleague2’s* mobile phone respectively. I assume *boss* realised the sending error and resent the message to my mobile.

    Points I wish to discuss
    · Why no risk assessment was carried out?
    · How the decision for me not to attend came to be made at 01:33 on the day of travel and not earlier?
    · What were the significant risks determined to be to me, as an expectant mother that was not significant to other members of staff?
    · Could these risks have been controlled or were they unavoidable?

I agree the events took place as above.

    *boss*

    Sincerely,

    *jenna*

Jen I think that's really well written and you've kept all of the emotion out of it. Let us know what he says!

Allioops I now really want to cry! You've bought the pram I had my heart set on and wanted to have a paddy over!
I'm going to see what crap I have in the loft and see if I can sell some to put towards and ask mum if I can have it although I'm prepared for the huge nag over how expensive it is and what else I can do with the money!

    Waaaaaaaaa!:rotfl:

Omg I just realised how much it costs if you buy the pram, carrycot, footmuff, car seat and changing bag

Monty - have you looked at Ebay. It's much cheaper, and often you can get all the extras thrown in. Then perhaps replace some key pieces (lining, hoods, baby capsule) etc so it looks nice and posh, but much cheaper.

If you use the MSE app for local collection only items you can pick up some excellent bargains.

We (by which I mean DH of course) are thinking about it seriously. Such a lot of money for prams!

Thanks Monty, i will let you know later.

t2d what is the MSE app for local collections?

I know my mum has offered to buy our pram and she keeps going on about the Stokke Xplory. It is just too much money when you add the carrycot, foot muff, parasol and change bag! Even if she buys it all I just can not justify it.

Daisi, do shops let you try them in the boot or have you just measured it? I have a Peugeot 308 and it looks quite roomy but never thought to measure anything lol. I don't think I could be bothered to keep taking off the wheels :)

Jen, I think that letter sounds good. Let us know how the meeting goes!

I am really irritated as I got whacked in the stomach today by a door :( a silly year 9 girl barging through without looking where she was going. I actually have a bruise! Hoping little girl is well cushioned in there and it hasn't done her any harm...

    It is almost the weekend!

So far we have got a Troll bedside cot quite cheap, and lots of prams for sale. What I want to do is decide what we want, and then just keep an eye out for it to appear on Ebay (rather than just choosing a cheap one... which is my DH's approach).

I'll be offline this weekend, so enjoy your natter about drinking and prams!

I'm off to Dublin to go out clubbing, partying and drinking! [STRIKE]Or possibly napping, putting my feet up, gentle walk on the beach and asking for the occasional green tea.[/STRIKE]
