Yes I think the quality is much better - very clear. And the focus is different...the NHS is more like 'this bone is ok, that bone is ok' etc whereas he took lots of time to show us the face and so on. And the 3d really was amazing0 -
Oh and there is a really big screen on the wall in the room as well as just the one the sonographer is looking at. And a nice sofa for the husband. Lol!0

Where did you go Daisie? Maybe we will think about a private one. I've heard that some private places have unqualified sonographers so can be a bit rubbish as it's not a regulated industry. How did you choose the one you went to?
Love the idea of a big screen! My mini-cervix scans are on a laptop and the position of the lady means I just get a quick glance, then she focuses on the medical purpose of the scan. How dare she!! She knows it's all about letting me peek at the baby!0 -

they do these scans just down the road from where I work, so I get tempted very regularly cos I could go at lunch time. Just the 'tight' side of my nature that's stopping me at the moment.0

T2D- you can always check the registration status of the place you book in advance if you get the sonographers name. The website is http://www.hpc-uk.org/check/ . The private ones I've been to are staffed by NHS sonographers moonlighting for more money and most are quite happy to confirm their experience and qualifications.
Daisi- congrats on team pink! You've made me all excited about booking a 3D scan now. I'm going to try and wait until 28 weeks but I am getting pretty impatient to see the baby's face! Do you think you would find out gender automatically/ accidentally or would it be easy enough for the sonographer to avoid that area?

We went with babybond (ultrasound direct) as there was one not too far away and we thought the website looked good. Both times we have been (had an early scan too) the sonographer has had loads of letters after the name!0

I think you could avoid it - baby is big enough now (and definitely will be at 28 weeks) that you really only see parts of the body rather than the whole thing at once so you could ask them to avoid between the legs! Also even if you accidentally saw, I don't know that you would know what you were looking at at all unless they were explaining and pointing it out. And they did not show the 3d of her bits lol! Just her face.0 -
Congratulations Daisiegg - how exciting!
We're having to stick to the NHS scans as money is too tight although my mum did offer right at the beginning, so we'll see how 23rd goes.
We appear to be rather uncaring parents. The nursery is pink and green currently and is going to stay that way. Pictures on the wall, baby furniture and the bedding are plenty for us.
In need of a nap xMet DH to be 2010
Moved in and engaged 2011
Married 2012
Bought a house 2013
Expecting our first 2014 :T0 -

Pink and green sound lovelyours is RED. Horrible red. Before we bought the house the room was occupied by a teenage boy who had it decorated Arsenal themed!! So we definitely need to do it. Any poor baby sleeping in there would get nightmares!
I just had a nap....they are fab. Have one!0
