  • How are you feeling Star? Hope the OHSS is not too horrific. :(

Thought you hadn't been around PM, that's a bummer you've been poorly. Have they given you anything for the tonsillitis?

So sorry code, it's always hard when the boys are upset too isn't it as they're usually the unemotional ones in all this (we joke that DH is actually a robot) Have you talked about it today?

Loveactually, is it EC today? C'mon those eggs!!

Pinkteapot that's great that you have plan. Did they explain why the 6 month wait in between cycles?

AFM, day 8 of stims today and scan on Friday. Wish it would hurry up, sooo bored!

Star I hope the ohss isn't to serious for you.

Ww I hope your scan on fri brings good news.

Code so sorry your struggling, I think emotional stuff affects men differently.

Pink sorry if I've got it wrong but in terms of mh matters and ttc I've not found it to be a barrier, ive been on anti depressants for a heck of a long time. So if you need help in whichever from dont be shy to ask for it. Sorry heads like cotton wool ATM.

They said it's because the ovaries have to recover from being highly stimulated, and to let us recover emotionally and make a rational decision about starting another cycle. Apparently they'd have the same rule if we were paying privately (we're NHS-funded). Is six months not normal then?

If you have any frozen embies from the unsuccessful cycle then they do let you have a second ET three months later, but six months is the wait before IVF cycle 2. :(

Oh PM, sorry you're ill :( Seems like when we get run down we then end up with every illness going. Really hope you're feeling better soon. I used to get tonsilitis a lot and found that gargling with soluble aspirin helped. But that's just experience, not medical advice lol.

SewIt - great to hear from you! Can't believe you're 8 weeks already, that's flown by! Thank you very much for all your support too - you, RG and Fairy were fab cycle buddies :A
Fingers crossed for a happy and healthy rest of your pregnancy xxx

star - that's fab news about the frosties! x

    Hugs PM xxx

love - how did EC go? Hope you're okay xx

pinkteapot - glad your appointment went well and you feel a lot better about everything. We had to wait a month or so the first time round and I found it was really helpful to use the time to gear myself up, lose a bit of weight and read up on everything.
RE: the 6 month waiting time. I think I read something somewhere about a 6 month gap if it was NHS funded - if you're private, I don't think it applies (although it may well be different across the country) - as we found out today... [see below ;)]

Thanks Isla and chickpea - just back from my review appointment and it went better then I could have ever dreamed. Basically as far as the clinic was concerned they thought my treatment was fairly textbook and I responded well althroughout ("a nice measured response" was the phrase of the day).
The doc said as long as I was happy, we could start again on the same protocol (but with a slightly higher amount of stims) on my next CD21 - which conviniently happens to be tomorrow! :D :rotfl:
So I'm back on the treatment cycle again - stims from 16th April and EC in the w/c 28th April!

    Hugs to everyone xxx

Not great tbh. I finished taking it on Thursday and really hope it's out of my system now as I dread to think what that and menopur at the same time will be like . I keep telling myself that I felt much better once the cetrotide kicked in last time, so have everything crossed that I've just got 6 days of menopur only - not sure OH can stand anymore than that :o:p.

Doesn't help that the menopur weekend is mothers day.... great timing. Have already decided that I can't face church on Sunday and feel better for having made the decision. I won't stress about it on the day now. Now I just need to think of something to get my mum... any ideas??

Ooh I've been added to the list! Thanks frozenpenguin. :D

Productive afternoon at work, working out when all my CD21's will fall (my cycle is regular as clockwork). There'll be one two days after we get home from holiday, so maybe, just maybe, they can start me then! If not, the next one will be in mid-July.

Seeing the Fertility Nurse on Friday, who will explain all the drugs in more detail and talk about what cycle (date) to get us in on.

The consultant definitely said that if we were a private patient at the same clinic they'd also insist on us waiting six month between IVF cycles, but I don't know anyone who's been there privately so I don't know for sure...

Might actually work out OK (as annoying as it is). Work give me five days off per year for fertility treatment, which I know will all get used up with one cycle. If our first cycle is June/July then the second wouldn't be until January, so I'll be in a new year and have a fresh set of "fertility leave" days. :)

It must just vary clinic to clinic then I think as we only waited 3 months (or 3 AFs) - Found out mid Dec that our NHS cycle had failed and started a private cycle with CD1 in early Feb.
