The Trials & Tribulations of Trying to Conceive when its just not happening (12m+)

Hi Emma,
I collected injecting tips here and on twitter. Here's what I do, I've found it helps. Get up, get meds, back in bed with husband. He's in charge of reading instructions and reminding me of things. I swab clean and prepare needle and pen. He double checks dose for me. I hold pen in right hand, pinch flabwith left hand. Breathe in deep, inject on exhalation. A twitter lady recommended not 'stopping your own movement' - I try to use one smooth movement.
Then, check the dose is all in and count to 10 before removing. This morning I learned the importance of injecting with the dose reader facing me so you don't need the swivel the needle! Then remove decisively in one movement.
I think some people numb with ice or similar first, although I haven't tried.
Now I can't stop SSing - Side-effect Spotting, haha! Nothing yet... Other than that just trying to eat lots.of protein, esp eggs, and keep warmAlso got my first scan on Thursday.
Hope everyone else is well *waves*

Hi all
I'm having my first injection today and then going in for my scan on Friday. Womb lining was thin today so not need for the pill and straight onto injections.MFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0 -

Me again. Sorry I forgot to ask today at the hospital but can I still continue to exercise while starting ivf? I do 1 hour of Zumba and Bhangra aerobics a week. The other days I do light cardio and stomach planks and crunches.MFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0

Well the consultant confirmed it today, we will be referred for Ivf. I have got no reason to not conceive so it's unexplained fertility, all of our tests came back clear with no problems. I have now got to lose weight and get my bmi down, then they will start the referral. I've got to try and drop two points and then it's all go.
In the mean time I have been prescribed clomid, they said it's not much use for me but I might as well try it and see while I try and lose the weight.
We only get one go on the NHS here so I need to maximise any chances I have. And if that means first trying clomid and losing as much weight as I can, then I might as well give it a go.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0 -
We are unexplained infertility too Vesper.
Good luck with the weight loss.MFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0 -
Ooh how did your first injection go skaps?
We were told no exercise other than walking / gentle yoga but stuck to walking as I wouldn't describe yoga as gentle - haha not when I attempt it anyway!! :rotfl: I think because 1. you can easily do damage to your ovaries once they get enlarged through stimming and 2. excercising to the point of exhaustion revs up the stress response in your body which you want to be at a minimum for implantation. xxx0 -
{peeps sheepishly round door}
hello lovely ladies, can I shuffle my way back in please?
I've been completely awol, after I got my plaster cast off I ended up being busy with physiotherapy and exercise and then one week merged into another, Christmas got in the way, I went back to work and well, here I am only just beginning to have some free time and feel normal again.
I missed you guys though! And if it helps, I've brought biscuitsxxx
(I'm going to have a proper catch up in my lunch hour and I promise to read everything that's been going on - I'll probably end up writing an essay later)

tea – hugs for the rubbishness of your home situation. I hope you can resolve something somehow and you’re still managing to keep your chin up xx
good vibes – huge hugs for the BFN last year xx
Think Pink, clevernamehere and gelly – congrats! I hope everything is progressing swimmingly xx
vesper - so sorry to hear about your father in law. It sounds like you’ve had a really rough time of it. Huge hugs to you and your DH (ooh and excellent news about the medical insurance!) xx
Primmer – Yay for the yes from the adoption panel! It must be such a relief! When do you find out the next bit? xx
Peonie, time2deal and chickpea – fabulous news! I hope everything is going well and you’re enjoying life with your little ones. It’s always good to hear from graduatesxx
pink – can I just say how much I love that t-rex Christmas picture? I can think of a fair few people I know who could do with being stood where she is! Also I’d quite happily join the TATOTTCWIJNH Fit Club, I managed to put on just over a stone whilst in plaster so my BMI back over 30. Now I can actually stand up and cook though, I’m using My Fitness Pal again to try and lose some weight – 4lbs gone so far since Christmas, not much I know but I reckon that’s not too bad for someone who still can’t do any exercise. xx
tea – can I join the knitting and crochet circle? I’ve got (rather ambitious) plans to knit the DH a jumper or cardigan as a Christmas present but I’m not sure exactly which Christmas he’ll get it for…
I’m very impressed by your wreath, that’s beautiful! So sorry to hear about your pap as well, huge hugs xx
lisa and smookle – hugs for the negative, it’s utter carp, you both deserve BFP’s (as do all of us on here) xx
harleyquinn – welcome! I’m sorry you find yourself here but I hope your stay is short xx
code – I second pink, you definitely need a new set of friends xx
Hugs to you all, I’m happy to do the lists (I’ll update them this evening) but I won’t be offended if anyone else wants to give updating them a goxxx
(also AFM - can't restart our FET until 21st March at the earliest, the consultants at the hospital told me in no uncertain terms that I had to wait at least 6 months from the operation before even starting to think about TTC again. I thought that would seem like ages but in reality, it's not that far away!)0 -
